  1. 1. Bio-based preparation of nanocellulose and functionalization using polyelectrolytes

    Författare :Jonatan Henschen; Monica Ek; Josefin Illergård; Dongfang Li; Emily Cranston; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cellulose nanofibrils; cellulose nanocrystals; oxalic acid; polyvinylamine; layer by layer; cellulose oxalate; antibacterial; Cellulosa nanofibriller; cellulosa nanokristaller; oxalsyra; polyvinylamin; lager på lager; cellulosa oxalat; antibakteriell; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : Nanocellulosa, som kan utvinnas från skogsråvara, har de senaste åren fått mycket uppmärksamhet för sina intressanta egenskaper och breda användningsområde. Studierna i denna avhandling syftar till att vidga möjligheterna att använda nanocellulosa i olika applikationer. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The creation of antibacterial fibres through physical adsorption of polyelectrolytes

    Författare :Josefin Illergård; Monica Ek; Lars Wågberg; Malmsten Martin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; antibacterial; polyelectrolyte multilayers; polyvinylamine; contact-active antibacterial surfaces;

    Sammanfattning : Contact-active antibacterial surfaces with irreversibly attached antibacterial com-pounds are a sustainable alternative to traditional biocides. No chemicals are released into nature and the antibacterial mechanism reduces the risk of the evolution of re-sistant bacteria. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Bacterial adhesion to polyelectrolyte modified materials based on nanocellulose

    Författare :Jonatan Henschen; Lars Wågberg; Per Larsson; Josefin Larsson; Aji Mathew; Michael Malkoch; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bacterial adhesion; cellulose nanofibrils; polymer adsorption; polyvinylamine; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : Since the introduction of materials based on cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs), these materials have been studied extensively and are suggested to be suitable for use in, for example, hygiene and health care products. A property not very well studied but that could further increase the usability of CNF products is the possibility of controlling bacterial adhesion to the materials. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Development of New Bacteria-Reducing Surfaces

    Författare :Josefin Illergård; Monica Ek; Lars Wågberg; Eva Blolmberg; Ute Römling; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; antibacterial; polyelectrolyte multilayers; polyvinylamine; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, antibacterial surfaces have been a subject of increased interest. Especiallyinteresting are non-leaching, contact-active surfaces that physically disrupts the bacterialcell using immobilised cationic polymers. Thus the risks of bacterial resistance and discharge of hazardous biocides is minimised. LÄS MER
