1. Atomic Scale Degradation of Zirconium Alloys for Nuclear Applications
Sammanfattning : Due to their low thermal neutron capture cross-section, zirconium alloys are widely used in the nuclear industry as fuel cladding and for structural components. The lifetime of the fuel assemblies in the reactors is primarily dictated by the ability of the cladding to withstand oxidation and hydrogen pick-up from the coolant water and radiation damage induced by the neutron flux. 2. Atom Probe Tomography of Hydrogen and of Grain Boundaries in Corroded Zircaloy-2
Sammanfattning : Due to their low thermal neutron capture cross-section, zirconium alloys are widely used in the nuclear industry for fuel cladding and structural components. The lifetime of the fuel assemblies in the reactors are largely dictated by the ability of the fuel cladding to withstand corrosion and mechanical damage. LÄS MER
3. Synthesis and Photochemical Characterisation of Photoactive Compounds for Molecular Electronics
Sammanfattning : In this modern age of technology, communication is highly reliant on computing devices such as mobile phones and computers. The advent of artificial intelligence (AI) and internet of things (IoT) as well as the widespread use of user-generated contents (UGC) are demanding more computing power and large data storage. 4. Aspects of work and health in women with fibromyalgia
Sammanfattning : Fibromyalgia (FM) is characterized by persistent widespread pain, increased pain sensitivity and tenderness. FM is also associated with fatigue, psychological distress, impaired physical capacity, activity limitations and impacts the ability to work. LÄS MER
5. Diatoms as indicators of Holocene climate and environmental change in northern Sweden
Sammanfattning : The objective of the thesis was to explore the potential of diatoms (Bacillariophyceae) as indicators of Holocene climate and environmental change in northern Sweden (Abisko region, 68°21'N, 18°49'E). A modern surface-sediment calibration set including 100 lakes was developed and lake-water pH, sedimentary organic content (assessed by loss-on-ignition) and temperature were identified as most powerful environmental variables explaining the variance within the diatom assemblages.
