36. Two Problems in non-linear PDE’s with Phase Transitions
Sammanfattning : This thesis is in the field of non-linear partial differential equations (PDE), focusing on problems which show some type of phase-transition. A single phase Hele-Shaw flow models a Newtoninan fluid which is being injected in the space between two narrowly separated parallel planes. LÄS MER
37. Operando Gas Imaging in Heterogeneous Catalysis
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the development and application of laser-based techniques, for gas phasecharacterization/gas imaging in heterogeneous catalysis. Two techniques are presented: planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) and degenerate four wave mixing (DFWM). LÄS MER
38. Controlling the Formation and Stability of Alumina Phases
Sammanfattning : In this work, physical phenomena related to the growth and phase formation of alumina, Al2O3, are investigated by experiments and computer calculations. Alumina finds applications in a wide variety of areas, due to many beneficial properties and several existing crystalline phases. LÄS MER
39. Detailed simulations of droplet evaporation
Sammanfattning : Droplet evaporation (and condensation) is one of the most common instancesof multiphase flow with phase change, encountered in nature as well as intechnical and industrial applications. Examples include falling rain drops, fogsand mists, aerosol applications like electronic cigarettes and inhalation drugdelivery, engineering applications like spray combustion, spray wet scrubbing orgas absorption, spray drying, flame spray pyrolysis. 40. Effects of a Novel Amphiphilic Graft Copolymer on Ternary Mixtures of Surfactant, Water, and Oil
Sammanfattning : An amphiphilic graft copolymer, with hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) monomethyl ether side chains grafted onto a hydrophobic poly(dodecyl methacrylate) backbone, has been synthesized. The side chains are water soluble and the backbone is soluble in oils such as cyclohexane and isooctane. LÄS MER
