    Sammanfattning : Background: Our innate immunesystem protects us from infections but, since its methods is not all specific for microorganisms, may also induce collateral damage.Severe physical injury often proved deadly throughout evolution. Such injuries may induce massive collateral damage. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Intestinal permeability : a parameter of mucosal dysfunction

    Detta är en avhandling från Linköping : Linköping University Electronic Press

    Författare :Pål Lundin; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1997]

    Sammanfattning : The gastrointestinal tract has two opposing functions; to absorb nutrients and electrolytes, and to act as a barrier towards hazardous and non-nutritional substances. In the present thesis the barrier function of the gastrointestinal tract was studied in animal models in vivo, in situ and in vitro. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Shaping Macroporous Ceramics templated synthesis, X-ray tomography and permeability

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry, Stockholm University

    Författare :Linnéa Andersson; Stockholms universitet.; [2011]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alumina; ceramic; CO2 capture; colloidal processing; expandable microspheres; gel casting; layer-by-layer; macroporosity; near-net shape; non-destructive evaluation; permeability; porosity; sacrificial templating; X-ray computed tomography; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Sammanfattning : Macroporous ceramic materials have found widespread technological application ranging from particulate filters in diesel engines, tissue engineering scaffolds, and as support materials in carbon capture processes. This thesis demonstrates how the pore space of macroporous alumina can be manipulated, analysed in three-dimensions (3D) using visualisation techniques, and functionalised with a CO2-adsorbing material. 4. 4. On Lactobacillus plantarum 299v, bacterial translocation and intestinal permeability

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Surgery, Malmö University Hospital, Lund University

    Författare :Peter Mangell; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2007]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; permeability; bacterial translocation; intestinal microflora; Kirurgi; orthopaedics; P-selectin; ortopedi; traumatologi; leukocyte recruitment; Lactobacillus plantarum 299v; traumatology; Surgery; colon resection;

    Sammanfattning : The gastrointestinal tract harbours a huge load of bacteria which exerts important biological functions to maintain health. In certain conditions the relation between commensal bacteria and pathogens may be set off balance, with an increase in number of pathogens and risk of bacterial translocation (BT). LÄS MER
