  1. 1. The role of granulocyte antibodies in monocyte and granulocyte activation

    Författare :Agneta Wikman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ANCA; adhesion molecules; CD11b; CD62L; granulocyte antibodies; granulocytes; monocytes; systemic vasculitis;

    Sammanfattning : Granulocytes and monocytes are important cells during the first phase of inflammation. They are activated and recruited from the blood vessels to inflammatory sites via the regulation of receptors involved in adhesion to endothelium. LÄS MER

  2. 2. C5a Receptor Expression in Severe Sepsis and Septic Shock

    Författare :Mia Furebring; Jan Sjölin; Per Folllin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Communicable diseases; C5a receptor; granulocyte; severe sepsis; septic shock; chemotaxis; anti-C5a treatment; ex vivo incubation; C5a; interleukin-8; LPS; Infektionssjukdomar; Infectious diseases; Infektionssjukdomar;

    Sammanfattning : In patients with sepsis, the activation of the cascade systems, for example the complement system with the generation of C5a, is followed by a state of immunosuppression with impaired bactericidal capacity caused by suppression of the neutrophil granulocytes. To inhibit the C5a-induced systemic inflammatory and the following anti-inflammatory responses, different anti-C5a strategies have been successful in experimental models of sepsis. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Immunomodulatory Properties of 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate

    Författare :Jennie Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate; Granulocyte; Respiratory burst; Immunoglobulin; B cell; Interleukin; Mouse;

    Sammanfattning : Immunomodulatory Properties of 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate Jennie Andersson Department of Oral Microbiology and Immunology, Institute of Odontology, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg Professionals working in dentistry have reported adverse effects, such as allergic contact dermatitis, following exposure to 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA). Furthermore unpolymerized HEMA monomers leaking from cured fillings can reach the dental pulp, where HEMA could come into contact with leukocytes. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Function of granulocytes after burns and trauma, associations with pulmonary vascular permeability, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and immunomodulation

    Författare :Joakim Johansson; Folke Sjöberg; Lennart Lindbom; Sven-Erik Ricksten; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ARDS; azurocidin; burn; CAP-37; critical care; granulocyte; HBP; histamine; intensive care; leucocyte; leukocyte; mediator; methylhistamine; MOF; oedema; neutrophil; permeability; PMN; trauma; vascular permeability;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Our innate immunesystem protects us from infections but, since its methods is not all specific for microorganisms, may also induce collateral damage.Severe physical injury often proved deadly throughout evolution. Such injuries may induce massive collateral damage. LÄS MER
