  1. 1. Optimisation of Machining Operations by means of Finite Element Method and Tailored Experiments

    Författare :Amir Malakizadi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Response Surface Methodology; inverse identification; bi-metals; flank wear; Wear modelling; thermal fatigue cracking; Finite Element Method; Usui’s model; metal cutting; Johnson-Cook;

    Sammanfattning : The experimental approach has long been the main method to investigate the responses associated with metal cutting process such as cutting forces and temperatures and also to optimise the machining operations to accomplish higher productivity. In recent years, with advances in computing power of computers along with development of robust numerical methods such as Finite Element Method (FEM), it has been possible to simulate different machining process under operational conditions. Sammanfattning : Traditionally, costly experimental procedures have been followed in industry to optimise the machining operations to secure the maximum efficiency in production line, while the functional requirements of the machined surfaces are fulfilled. In recent years, development of robust numerical techniques such as Finite Element Method (FEM) and advances in computing capacity of computers have made it possible to simulate the machining operations under operational conditions. 3. 3. Machining Monitoring and Control : Based on Parametric Modelling

    Författare :Mats Bejhem; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Machining Control; tool condition monitoring; in-process dynamic stability monitoring and control; optimisation of cutting conditions; MC; DSP; TCM; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of this work was the development of aMachining Control prototype system for turning, whichintegrates three fundamental aspects of Machining Controltechnology: Monitoring, Control and Optimisation. MachiningControl refers to the detection and automatic handling ofdisturbances in machining processes. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Lean Prototyping of Multi-body and Mechatronic Systems

    Författare :Anders Jönsson; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Major drivers behind increased efforts in product development are the increased competition due to globalisation and the urgent transformation of society towards sustainability. Furthermore, the average product lifetime has been compressed significantly over the last decade. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Analysing strategic energy-related investments in process industries : applied studies at a pulp and board mill

    Författare :Magnus Karlsson; Lars J. Nilsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MIND; Industrial energy systems; Investment; pulp and paper; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : The potential to reduce energy demand in industrial applications is often substantiaL Since energy cost represents a considerable share of the value added in several categories of process industries, a great potential exists for cutting costs through investment, for instance in energy efficiency improvements. However, industrial energy systems form complex relations not only within the industrial unit, but also in the interaction with their surroundings. LÄS MER
