  1. 21. Island biogeography and population divergence in the Skyros wall lizard

    Författare :Anna Runemark; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Podarcis gaigeae; inbreeding; predation release; polymorphism; island gigantism; the island rule; genetic drift; sexual selection; natural selection; island biology; Evolution;

    Sammanfattning : Islands are cradles for new biodiversity and provide natural laboratories for the study of population divergence. In my thesis, I investigated the role of different evolutionary processes in the population divergence in the Skyros wall lizard (Podarcis gaigeae), a species where islet populations have strongly diverged morphologies. 2. 22. Plant phenology in seasonal environments

    Författare :Elsa Fogelström; Johan Ehrlén; Johan P. Dahlgren; Arthur Weis; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Autumn phenology; Cardamine pratensis; evolutionary ecology; heritability; herbivore preference; fitness components; flowering time; growing season length; life-history; Lathyrus vernus; natural selection; population differentiation; phenology; spring phenology; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Phenology, or the seasonal timing life-history events such as emergence, reproduction and senescence will determine the outcome of interactions between plants and both abiotic and biotic aspects of the environment. Such timing is therefore of utmost importance for plants in seasonal environments. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Population viability analysis under environmental change : development of Bayesian tools

    Författare :Alejandro Ruete; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : An understanding of the links between population dynamics and environmental variability, combined with information on how these factors change over time, is necessary to understand and predict population dynamics and viability in changing environments. Scientists need also to acknowledge uncertainties in their understanding of systems, which is straightforward using Bayesian statistics. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Forecasting chemical exposure in a changing world

    Författare :John D. Hader; Matthew MacLeod; Ian Cousins; Mark Huijbregts; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; global change; exposure modelling; dietary change; wastewater treatment; chemical fate and transport; Environmental Sciences; miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Exposure to anthropogenic chemicals in natural and built environments is a threat to humans and other species. Now and through the 21st Century, the world will experience a large number of global changes, including anthropogenic climate change, shifts in demographics, agricultural expansion, socioeconomic development, and an increasing number and volume of chemicals on the market. 5. 25. Tracing selection and adaptation along an environmental gradient in Populus tremula

    Författare :David Hall; Pär Ingvarsson; Thomas Bataillon; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Local adaptation; Selection; genetic differentiation; QST; FST; Association study; frequency spectra; recurrent hitchhiking; selective sweep; Tree; Populus; natural selection; quantitative genetics; Terrestrial ecology; Terrestrisk ekologi; Population Biology; populationsbiologi; genetik; Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : The distribution of the expressed genotype is moved around in the population over time byevolution. Natural selection is one of the forces that act on the phenotype to change the patterns ofnucleotide variation underlying those distributions. LÄS MER
