  1. 21. Multi-omics investigation into bacterial evolution

    Författare :Karl Dyrhage; Siv Andersson; Dan I. Andersson; Jay Hinton; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bioinformatics; bacterial evolution; cellular complexity; comparative genomics; transcriptomics; proteomics; fructophilic lactic acid bacteria; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär evolution; Biology with specialization in Molecular Evolution;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is the investigation of the evolution and cellular processes of Tuwongella immobilis and Apilactobacillus kunkeei, two bacterial species with different levels of genomic and cellular complexity, using a multi-omics approach.In the first study we examined the proteome of T. 2. 22. Lactobacillus in semi-hard cheese and their use as adjunct cultures

    Författare :Martin Antonsson; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Livsmedelsteknik; Food and drink technology; Adjunct culture; NSLAB; Non-starter Lactic acid bacteria; Cheese ripening; Model cheese; Lactobacillus paracasei; Cheese; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The microflora of Herrgård cheese produced at three dairies was compared after three and six months maturation. The microflora of cheeses from two of the dairies was dominated by a spontaneous microflora of Lactobacillus after three months of ripening, while starter bacteria still dominated in cheese from the third dairy after six months. 3. 23. Genetic Engineering of Industrial Micro-organisms - Casein hydrolysis by the lactic acid bacteria Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris and Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Xylose fermentation by the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Författare :Camilla Christensson; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; bacteriology; Microbiology; mykologi; virologi; bakteriologi; Mikrobiologi; virology; mycology; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Micro-organisms are used industrially by humans, to improve production, either qualitatively or quantitatively, and to enhance profit or value. In cheese production, the starter bacteria hydrolyse casein degradation products generated by rennet. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Industrial challenges in the use of Saccharomyces cerevisiae for ethanolic fermentation of lignocellulosic biomass

    Författare :Violeta Sanchez Nogue; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; Pentose fermentation; Evolutionary engineering; Acetic acid; pH; Short-term adaptation; Resident yeast; Spent sulphite liquor fermentation; Dekkera bruxellensis; Lactobacillus pentosus.;

    Sammanfattning : The sustainable production of ethanol from lignocellulosic biomass requires the combination of efficient hydrolysis and complete fermentation of all the monomeric sugars present in the raw material. The present work was aimed at tackling some of the major challenges that will be encountered in commercial-scale ethanol production using Baker’s yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the preferred microorganism for the fermentation step. 5. 25. Bio-based C-3 Platform Chemical: Biotechnological Production and -Conversion of 3-Hydroxypropionaldehyde

    Författare :Roya Rezaei; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lactobacillus reuteri; 3-hydroxypropionic acid; biotransformation; Glycerol; 3-hydroxypropionaldehyde; In situ complexation;

    Sammanfattning : Demands for efficient, greener, economical and sustainable production of chemicals, materials and energy have led to development of industrial biotechnology as a key technology area to provide such products from bio-based raw materials from agricultural-, forestry- and related industrial residues and by-products. For the bio-based industry, it is essential to develop a number of building blocks or platform chemicals for C2-C6 chemicals and even aromatic chemicals. LÄS MER
