  1. 11. Degradation Mechanisms of Heat Resistant Steel at Elevated Temperatures : In an Iron Ore Pelletizing Industry

    Författare :Erik A. A. Nilsson; Marta-Lena Antti; Ragnar Tegman; Jan-Erik Svensson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stainless steel; Grate-Kiln; microstructure; corrosion; as-casted; thermal cycling; erosion; deposition; Engineering Materials; Materialteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the different degradation mechanisms of the stainless steel in a travelling grate in a Grate-Kiln iron ore pellet indurator. The travelling grate is a conveyor belt that transports green-body pellets to a rotary kiln while the pellets are being dried and pre-heated to a temperature of 900-1100 °C by recycled hot air. 2. 12. Fundamental Studies Related to Gaseous Reduction of Iron Oxide

    Författare :Mania Kazemi; Du Sichen; Ioannis Arvanitidis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Direct reduction; iron ore; cementite; reduction model;

    Sammanfattning : The demands for increasing the efficiency and lowering the environmental effects in iron and steelmaking industries have given rise to interests in application of direct reduction (DR) processes for production of iron by different gases. These advancements require comprehensive models for better control of the process conditions and the product properties. LÄS MER

  3. 13. NOx formation in iron ore rotary kilns

    Författare :Rikard Edland; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; rotary kiln; Grate-Kiln process; emissions control; combustion chemistry; Nitrogen oxides;

    Sammanfattning : Iron ore pellets are often produced using the so-called Grate-Kiln process, which is designed to oxidize the magnetite (Fe3O4) to hematite (Fe2O3) and to sinter the pellets so they can be used in steel manufacturing. The heat required for this process comes from the combustion of a pulverized fuel in a rotary kiln, involving the formation of a jet flame. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Mineral Reactions and Slag Formation During Reduction of Olivine Blast Furnace Pellets

    Författare :Elin Ryösä; Hans Annersten; Kyösti Heinänen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; olivine; iron ore pellets; blast furnace; reduction; alkali; coating; slag formation; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The present work focuses on mineral reactions and slag formation of LKAB olivine iron ore pellets (MPBO) subjected to reducing conditions in the LKAB experimental blast furnace (EBF). The emphasis is on olivine reactions with surrounding iron oxides. Many factors influence the olivine behaviour. LÄS MER

  5. 15. A study of micro-particles in the dust and melt at different stages of iron and steelmaking

    Författare :Muhammad Nabeel; Andrey Karasev; Lauri Holappa; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Particle size distribution; ironmaking; iron ore pellets; dust generation; mechanical wear; friction; reduction; REM clusters; Electrolytic extraction; cluster size distribution; growth mechanism; collisions; statistical analysis.; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering; Metallurgical process science; Metallurgisk processvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The dust particles generated due to mechanical wear of iron ore pellets and clusters formed in molten stainless steel alloyed with rare earth metals (REM) are considered in this study. Firstly, the influence of the characteristics of iron ore pellets, applied load on a pellet bed and partial reduction of the pellets on the size distribution of the generated dust was investigated.
