11. On the Few-Body Character of Light Exotic Nuclei - Analytical Studies of Electromagnetic Processes Involving Loosely Bound Systems
Sammanfattning : The few-body character of loosely bound nuclei along the drip lines is studied within an analytical approach. It is argued that the clusterization of these systems leads to a modification of the normal phase space distribution of fragment momenta in breakup reactions. LÄS MER
12. Non-abelian quantum Hall states and fractional charges in one dimension
Sammanfattning : The fractional quantum Hall effect has, since its discovery around 30 years ago, been a vivid field of research—both experimentally and theoretically. In this thesis we investigate certain non-abelian quantum Hall states by mapping the two-dimensional system onto a thin torus, where the problem becomes effectively one-dimensional and hopping is suppressed, meaning that the classical electrostatic interaction dominates. 13. Negative ion experiments at DESIREE : Photodetatchment studies of transitions and lifetimes of excited states of Ir-
Sammanfattning : In this thesis I present measurements using laser photodetachment to investigate negative ions of iridium produced in a cesium sputter ion source and stored in the cryogenic storage ring, DESIREE. The ions are photodetached by either a tunable OPO laser system or a tunable narrow bandwidth Titanium Sapphire laser. LÄS MER
14. Static and dynamic properties of uniform- and vortex-states in synthetic nanomagnets
Sammanfattning : Synthetic antiferromagnets (SAFs) consist of two thin ferromagnetic particles separated by a thin nonmagnetic spacer. The magnetic moments of the two particles couple antiparallel via dipolar interactions, with the interlayer exchange interaction suppressed by a suitable choice of the spacer material. LÄS MER
15. Time Resolved Laser Spectroscopy of Rydberg States in Group IIIA and IIIA Elements
Sammanfattning : In this work radiative properties of neutral elements with one or two electrons outside closed subshells have been investigated. Using laser techniques in connection with atomic beams selective excitation of Rydberg states was performed. Most of the studied states were populated with two-step excitation. LÄS MER
