6. Eczema in young children : aspects of clinical investigation and treatment
7. Food hypersensitivity among schoolchildren : prevalence, Health Related Quality of Life and experiences of double-blind placebo-controlled food challenges
Sammanfattning : Background: The prevalence of reported food hypersensitivity among children has increased in Western countries. However, the prevalence varies largely due to differences in methods used in different studies. Double-blind placebo-controlled food challenge (DBPCFC) is the most reliable method to verify or exclude food hypersensitivity. LÄS MER
8. Diet and dietary biomarkers during pregnancy and lactation in relation to offspring allergy development
Sammanfattning : Allergy causes a large burden on society and reduces the quality of life for the individual. The increased allergy incidence over the last decades cannot be explained by genetics. Research has indicated that diet, which is a modifiable factor, might influence the risk of developing allergy. LÄS MER
9. Epidemiology of food hypersensitivity in school children : validation with double-blind placebo-controlled food challenges and biomarkers
Sammanfattning : Background: This thesis focuses on the incidence and remission of reported food hypersensitivity in schoolchildren followed from 8 to 12 -years of age and the prevalence of hypersensitivity to milk, egg, cod and wheat among 12-year olds investigated by reported data, clinical investigation and double-blind placebo-controlled food challenges and biomarkers. Methods: The studies are mainly based on a population based cohort recruited in 2006 from three municipalities in Northern Sweden. 10. Thermodynamical and structural properties of proteins and their role in food allergy
Sammanfattning : Proteins are important building blocks of all living organisms. They are composed of a defined sequence of different amino acids, and fold into a specific three-dimensional, ordered structure. The three-dimensional structure largely determines the function of the protein, but protein function always requires motion. LÄS MER
