  1. 1. Methods for Analysis of Naturalistic Driving Data in Driver Behavior Research

    Författare :Jonas Bärgman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; safety benefit evaluation; crash causation; safety measures; automated driving; analysis; naturalistic driving data; driver behavior; counterfactual simulations;

    Sammanfattning : In the last several years, the focus of traffic safety research—especially when performed in association with the automotive industry—has shifted from preventing injury during a crash to avoiding the crash altogether or mitigating its effects. Pre-crash safety measures include intelligent safety systems (e.g. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The driver response process in assisted and automated driving

    Författare :Linda Pipkorn; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; automation safety; take-over request; driver behavior; response process; automated driving; driving performance;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Safe assisted and automated driving can be achieved through a detailed understanding of the driver response process (the timing and quality of driver actions and visual behavior) triggered by an event such as a take-over request or a safety-relevant event. Importantly, most current evidence on driver response process in vehicle automation, and on automation effects (unsafe response process) is based on driving-simulator studies, whose results may not generalize to the real world. 3. 3. A Model of Driver Perception and Action in Intersections

    Författare :Anna Bjelkemyr; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; intersection; vehicle heading; driving; behavior; driver; perception; eye movement; anticipate;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of the research presented in this thesis is to describe driver behavior while approaching, entering and exiting an intersection. To fulfill this objective, two semi-naturalistic studies were conducted where ten driver participants drove a test vehicle through a three-way intersection repeatedly, driving straight, turning left, and turning right in a total of six possible passes. 4. 4. Safe Transitions to Manual Driving From Faulty Automated Driving System

    Författare :Josef Nilsson; RISE; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Driver takeover; functional safety; automated driving; safety; vehicle automation; driver capability; brake failure; controllability; driving simulator.;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a method to assess the safety of transitions from automated to manual driving when vehicle automation fails. The method is based on contributions to the understanding of human driving behavior, also presented in this thesis. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Driving in Virtual Reality : Requirements for automotive research and development

    Författare :Björn Blissing; Johan Ölvander; Fredrik Bruzelius; James Oliver; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Virtual Reality; Augmented Reality; Mixed Reality; Driver Behavior; Active Safety Testing;

    Sammanfattning : In the last decades, there has been a substantial increase in the development of complex active safety systems for automotive vehicles. These systems need to be tested for verification and validation to ensure that the system intervenes in the correct situations using the correct measures. LÄS MER
