  1. 1. Tracing Prehistoric Activities : Life ways, habitual behaviour and health of hunter-gatherers on Gotland

    Författare :Petra Molnar; Jan Storå; Christopher Knüsel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Activity-related change; Musculoskeletal Stress Markers; Extramasticatory wear; dental wear; Health index; Pitted Ware culture; Neolithic; Ajvide; Archaeology; Arkeologi; osteoarkeologi; Osteoarchaeology;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, skeletal and dental evidence of physical strain and habitual behaviour has been investigated through musculoskeletal stress markers (MSM) and extramasticatory dental wear. The skeletal and dental traits have been examined in relation to health patterns and material culture in order to gain better knowledge of life ways of hunter-gatherers on Gotland with special focus on Pitted Ware culture sites and the Ajvide site in particular. 2. 2. On biological response and wear particles around oral implants and implant components

    Författare :Julia Olander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dental implants; Abutments; Ceramics; Titanium; Wear particles;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Wear particles released from implant components are gaining interest in the dental literature. In orthopedic medicine, wear particles are known to cause bone loss around medical implants in an aseptic manner and several in vitro studies have shown proinflammatory responses to titanium particles. 3. 3. Hydrolytic degradation of dental composites and effects of silane-treatment and filler fraction on compressive strength and thermal expansion of composites

    Författare :Karl-Johan M. Söderholm; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Internal frictional theory; filler-matrix debonding; stress-corrosion; stressinfluenced diffusion; m icro-crack form ation; crazing; opacity; wear; osmotic pressure; hoop stresses;

    Sammanfattning : Some researchers have suggested that the weakest link of dental composites is the filler-matrix bond. However, due to incompleteness of information dealing with this bond and its stability in a humid environment, it was considered desirable to investigate the effect of water on this region, as well as the influence of filler bonding and filler fraction on compressive strength and thermal expansionExperimental composites containing different filler fractions of either silane-treated or untreated fillers were made. 4. 4. On titanium release from dental implants and the inflammatory response

    Författare :Mattias Pettersson; Margareta Molin Thorén; Anders Johansson; Ann Wennerberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; titanium; inflammation; dental implants; peri-implantitis; odontologi; Odontology;

    Sammanfattning : In dentistry, dental implants have become a standard treatment for single tooth loss and partial and total edentulism since their introduction by P-I Brånemark in the 1960s. Long-term follow-up studies have shown that dental implantation is a predictable treatment, with an overall implant survival over ninety-five percent. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Calcium aluminate cement as dental restorative : Mechanical properties and clinical durability

    Författare :Karin Sunnegårdh-Grönberg; Jan van Dijken; Preben Hørsted Bindslev; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :mechanical properties; clinical; restorations; ceramic; cement; resin composite; adaptation; SEM; odontologi; Odontology;

    Sammanfattning : In 1995, the Swedish government recommended the discontinuation of amalgam as restorative in paediatric dentistry. Because the mercury content in amalgam constitutes an environmental hazard, its use has declined. LÄS MER
