  1. 16. Studies on Tissue Factor with Focus on Cell Signaling and Cancer

    Författare :Oskar Eriksson; Agneta Siegbahn; Lina Badimon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tissue Factor; blood coagulation; cell signaling; protease; mass spectrometry; immunohistochemistry; colorectal cancer; apoptosis; Eph receptor; Klinisk kemi; Clinical Chemistry; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis have explored the functions of the protein Tissue Factor (TF), which together with its ligand coagulation factor VII/VIIa (FVII/FVIIa) forms a proteolytic complex that functions in initiation of blood coagulation and activation of cell signaling.In paper I, the mechanisms behind the observation that TF/FVIIa signaling protects cells from apoptosis were further investigated. 2. 17. Heparan sulfate dependent cell signaling and associated pathophysiology : Implications in tumorigenesis and embryogenesis

    Författare :Tahira Batool; Jin-Ping Li; Aristidis Moustakas; Liliana Schaefer; Ingvar Ferby; Michael Welsh; Anders Malmström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Heparanase; Glucuronyl-C5 epimerase; Heparan Sulfate; Heparin; Lung Cancer; Cancer cell Singling; TGF-Beta; BMP; VEGF; Notch Signaling; Tumor growth; Metastasis; embryonic development; Medical Biochemistry; Medicinsk biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) consist of a protein core to which several linear, negatively charged heparan sulfate (HS) chains are covalently attached. HSPGs are expressed on the cell surface and in the extra-cellular matrix (ECM) where they have diverse biological functions, for example co-receptor functions. LÄS MER

  3. 18. TGFβ and LXR signaling in hepatocellular carcinoma

    Författare :Claudia Bellomo; Aristidis Moustakas; Lars Holmgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hepatocellular Carcinoma; high-throughput imaging; small molecules; epithelial plasticity; LXR; Snail; TGFβ; tumor suppression; reactive oxygen species; cancer-associated fibroblast; myofibroblast; Smad3; αSMA;

    Sammanfattning : Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most prevalent cancer types in the Western world and in the Asia-pacific regions, with its incidence expected to rise up to 22 million cases till 2020. Hepatocellular carcinoma etiology is mainly due to hepatitis B (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) infections, and to a lesser extent it is determined by the development of alcohol-driven cirrhosis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). 4. 19. p63 – from expression to function : studies of normal oral mucosa and squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck

    Författare :Niklas Thurfjell; Karin Nylander; Phillip Coates; Göran Roos; Luisa Guerrini; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; p63; SCCHN; p53; BRCA1; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The human p63 gene discovered in 1997 encodes a series of protein isoforms that differ in their N- and/or C-terminal sequences. These isoforms have widely differing properties in promoting or repressing p53-related functions such as growth arrest and apoptosis. LÄS MER

  5. 20. p63 and potential p63 targets in squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck

    Författare :Linda Boldrup; Karin Nylander; Wendy Weinberg; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN), the 6th most common cancer worldwide, has a low 5-year survival. Disease as well as treatment often causes patients severe functional and aesthetic problems. LÄS MER
