  1. 1. TGFβ and LXR signaling in hepatocellular carcinoma

    Författare :Claudia Bellomo; Aristidis Moustakas; Lars Holmgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hepatocellular Carcinoma; high-throughput imaging; small molecules; epithelial plasticity; LXR; Snail; TGFβ; tumor suppression; reactive oxygen species; cancer-associated fibroblast; myofibroblast; Smad3; αSMA;

    Sammanfattning : Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most prevalent cancer types in the Western world and in the Asia-pacific regions, with its incidence expected to rise up to 22 million cases till 2020. Hepatocellular carcinoma etiology is mainly due to hepatitis B (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) infections, and to a lesser extent it is determined by the development of alcohol-driven cirrhosis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). 2. 2. Regulation of cellular plasticity and extracellular vesicle secretion in breast cancer

    Författare :Chrysoula Tsirigoti; Aristidis Moustakas; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Pierre Savagner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cellular plasticity; extracellular vesicles; breast cancer; EMT; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a dynamic process controlling the transition of cells between epithelial and mesenchymal states in various physiological or pathological conditions. In cancer, EMT promotes cell dissemination and metastatic colonization, enriches tumors with stem cell populations and confers resistance to anticancer therapy. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Role of syndecan-1 in tumor cell proliferation and epithelial-mesenchymal plasticity

    Författare :Ashish Kumar Singh; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Syndecan-1 (SDC1) is a heparan sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG) intercalated in the cell membrane but also translocated to the cell nucleus in a regulated manner. SDC1 is involved in several malignancy-associated processes such as proliferation and migration. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Genome-plasticity and adaption in Helicobacter pylori

    Författare :Christina Nilsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori is a gastric bacterial pathogen that infects an estimated half. of the human population. The infection is primarily acquired during early childhood and causes a persistent infection that is usually not eradicated by the host immune system. Although most infected individuals. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Plasticity of the dopamine1 receptor and its signaling pathway

    Författare :Maria Sol Kruse; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Dopamine; D1R; trafficking; signaling pathway; NMDA;

    Sammanfattning : Dopamine 1 receptor (D1R) belongs to the G protein coupled receptor superfamily with seven transmembrane domains. Previous studies from our laboratory showed that D1R availability in the plasma membrane of renal epithelial cells is dynamically regulated by the dopaminergic tonus. Here, we *examined the availability of D1R in the brain. LÄS MER
