1. Wnt/β-Catenin Signalling in Parathyroid Tumours
Sammanfattning : Primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT) due to parathyroid tumours with hypersecretion of parathyroid hormone and hypercalcaemia is a common disease with incompletely understood etiology affecting more than 1 % of the population, primarily postmenopausal women. In secondary hyperparathyroidism (sHPT), parathyroid tumours develop in response to calcium and vitamin D deficiency generally in patients with uraemia. LÄS MER
2. Regulation of morphogen signalling during neural patterning in the Xenopus embryo
Sammanfattning : Morphogens such as Hedghog, Wnt, FGF, and retinoic acid are important signals whose concentrations need to be tightly regulated in the vertebrate embryo to ensure body axis development and formation of the central nervous system. We first show that the intracellular cytoplasmic protein XSufu acts as a dual regulator of Hedgehog (Hh) and Wnt signals during neural induction and patterning in the Xenopus embryo. LÄS MER
3. Role of ß-catenin and Leukotriene in Colon Cancer Progression
Sammanfattning : Abstract Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer worldwide. Deregulation of Wnt/β-catenin signalling pathway is an early hallmark of colon cancer. Were nuclear accumulation of β-catenin is a marker of activated canonical Wnt/β-catenin signaling. One of the risk factors for development of colon cancer is inflammatory bowel disease. LÄS MER
4. Cellular pathways and molecular regulation of hematopoietic stem cells
Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are defined by their unique properties to self-renew and differentiate into all hematopoietic cell lineages. Residing in the bone marrow (BM), adult HSCs are organized in a hierarchy of cells that differ in their self-renewal and proliferative capacity. LÄS MER
5. Studies on the biological functions of interaction between components in Wnt, TGF-β and HIF pathways for cancer progression
Sammanfattning : Cancer is a disease that involves aggressive changes in the genome and aberrant signals between the living cells. Signalling pathways such as TGF-β (Transforming growth factor-β), Wnt, EGF (epidermal growth factor) and HIF (Hypoxia-inducible factor) evolved to regulate growth and development in mammals. LÄS MER
