  1. 11. Tumor-stroma interactions in hepatocellular carcinoma

    Författare :Nataša Pavlović; Femke Heindryckx; Jessica Maiers; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hepatocellular carcinoma; fibrosis; endoplasmic reticulum stress; unfolded protein response; platelets; P2Y12; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a highly deadly primary liver cancer with a rising global incidence and limited therapeutic options, is characterized by a vicious cross-talk between the tumor and its surrounding hepatic stroma. The stromal environment, consisting of hepatic stellate cells (HSC), endothelial cells, resident and infiltrating macrophages and other immune cells, platelets and extracellular matrix (ECM) components, actively contributes to creating an ideal niche for tumor proliferation and invasiveness. 2. 12. The role of Smad7 and TRAF6 in Prostate Cancer Cell Invasion, Migration and Survival

    Författare :Maria Ekman; Marene Landström; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Jonas Fuxe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TGF-beta; cell migration; invasion; apoptosis; Smad7; APC; ATM; TRAF6; p53; PC3U; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Transforming growth factor (TGF) β is a tumor suppressor during early tumor development, by inhibiting proliferation and inducing apoptosis. At later stages of cancer, it becomes a tumor promoter, and promotes tumor cell migration and invasion. TGFβ signals via its type II and type I receptors to several downstream signaling pathways. 3. 13. Cell cycle regulation in cancer: A noncoding perspective

    Författare :Mohamad Ali; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Long Noncoding RNA; lncRNA; Cell cycle; S phase; Mitosis; Checkpoint; Cancer; SCAT7; LY6K-AS;

    Sammanfattning : The cell cycle progression is tightly regulated to ensure error-free cell replication. The complexity of the transcriptional machinery aids to function in a spatiotemporal pattern across different phases and genomic loci. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Neuropilin-1 regulation of tumor vascularization and growth

    Författare :Eric Morin; Lena Claesson-Welsh; Hellmut Augustin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Angiogenesis; Neuropilin-1; VEGFR2; tumor biology; pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma; renal cell carcinoma; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels from existing ones, is dysregulated during tumor progression as a result of chronic hypoxia and inflammation. Such alterations lead to a lack of vessel hierarchy, and the formation of poorly perfused, leaky and blunt-ended vessels, contributing to disease progression. LÄS MER

  5. 15. The Role of Microvascular Pericytes in the Generation of Pro-fibrotic Connective Tissue Cells : Investigations in vitro and in Reactive Tissues in vivo

    Författare :Jakob Karén; Christian Sundberg; Gunilla Westergren-Thorsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pericyte fibroblast differentiation fibrosis; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Medical Biochemistry; Medicinsk biokemi; Cellforskning; Cell Research; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Pericytes are cells of mesenchymal origin located on the abluminal side, juxtapositioned to the endothelial cells in capillaries, venules and small arterioles. They are important for maintaining vessel integrity in resting tissues as well as the formation and stabilization of new vessels. LÄS MER
