1. Mammalian brain acetylcholinesterase : a study of its solubilization, purification, molecular state and interactions with cholinergic ligands including an endogenous modulator
Sammanfattning : Membrane bound AChE from calf brain caudate nucleus was solubilized by use of ion-free media in presence of 10~ M EDTA and 10“5M tetracaine. The irreversible release of AChE was more effectively inhibited by divalent ions compared to monovalent ions added to the medium. LÄS MER
2. Brains, genes and environment of suicide attempters
Sammanfattning : Identification of symptoms or biological abnormalities that predispose to suicide or identifies specific vulnerabilities, may one day improve allocation of resources or help tailor treatment to the patient. Paper I: We compared the predictive value of symptom-oriented questions against direct questions about suicidality in assessing risk for suicide attempts. LÄS MER
3. Studies on Premenstrual Dysphoria
Sammanfattning : Premenstrual dysphoria, so severe that it affects the lives of the women afflicted, is the condition studied in this thesis. Physiological and pharmacological mechanisms of pathogenetic relevance were investigated. LÄS MER
4. Dopamine receptors in the rat brain
Sammanfattning : Dopamine receptors belong to a large superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors and consist of the D1, D2, D3, D4, and D5 receptors. The D2, D3, and D4 receptors belong to the D2 receptor family which is characterized by having a large third cytoplasmic loop and a short C-terminus projecting into the cytosol, and by inhibiting the enzyme adenylyl cyclase. 5. Magnetic resonance imaging techniques for diagnostics in Parkinson's disease and atypical parkinsonism
Sammanfattning : Background: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by rigidity, hypokinesia, tremor and postural instability. PD is a clinical diagnosis based on neurological examination, patient history and treatment response. LÄS MER
