21. Microbiological surveillance of biogas plants : focusing on the acetogenic community
Sammanfattning : Biogas process has great potential for reducing the current dependence on fossil fuels and for climate mitigation and sustainable development. In this process organic matter is decomposed under anerobic conditions by microorganisms to form biogas and a nutrient rich biofertiliser. LÄS MER
22. Nitrification and Nitrifying Bacterial Communities in Coniferous Forest Soils : Effects of Liming and Clear-Cutting
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the effects of liming and clear-cutting on nitrification in hemi-boreal and northern temperate coniferous forest soils. The approach has been to study both the potential nitrification and the community structure of the ammonia-oxidising bacteria, which carry out the first step of autotrophic nitrification. LÄS MER
23. Biogas production from lignocellulosic agricultural residues : microbial approaches for enhanced efficiency
Sammanfattning : Methane, produced through microbial anaerobic digestion of various organic materials, is seen as a promising sustainable bioenergy source with the potential to reduce the current dependence on fossil fuels. Among organic materials, lignocellulosic materials, especially agriculture residues, are highly interesting due to high abundance and potential for methane production. LÄS MER
24. FtsH metalloproteases and their pseudo-proteases in the chloroplast envelope of Arabidopsis thaliana
Sammanfattning : By cleaving peptide bonds, proteases either activate or degrade proteins and maintain protein quality control in response to various developmental stimuli and environmental factors. My work has focused on elucidating the role of the filamentation temperature sensitive protein H (FtsH) proteases. LÄS MER
