  1. 1. Multilingual Abstractions: Abstract Syntax Trees and Universal Dependencies

    Författare :Kolachina Prasanth; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Grammatical Framework; Universal Dependencies; Natural Language Processing; multilinguality; abstract syntax trees; dependency trees; multilingual generation; multilingual parsers;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis studies the connections between parsing friendly representations and interlingua grammars developed for multilingual language generation. Parsing friendly representations refer to dependency tree representations that can be used for robust, accurate and scalable analysis of natural language text. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The Syntax of the Swedish Present Participle

    Författare :Camilla Thurén; tolkning i offentlig sektor och översättning danska och isländska Avdelningen för svenska; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; adjunct; participial clause; internal structure; complex predicate; Swedish; syntax; present participle;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The Syntax of the Swedish Present Participle offers a generative analysis of the Swedish present participle with the central goal of accounting for its distribution and function. The analysis offered rests on three hypotheses: (i) Present participles are verbs, (ii) Present participles can appear in complex predicates, and (iii) Adjunct present participial clauses may be interpreted through Control, where Control is assumed to equal an Agree relation. 3. 3. V1 Declaratives in Spoken Swedish : Syntax, Information Structure, and Prosodic Pattern

    Författare :Maria Mörnsjö; tolkning i offentlig sektor och översättning danska och isländska Avdelningen för svenska; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Scandinavian languages and literature; spoken language; perception test; dynamicity; downstep; F0 slope; focal accent; narrative; discourse; topic; cohesion; V2; V1; prosody; information structure; declarative; Spec-CP; Nordiska språk språk och litteratur ; Grammar; semantics; semiotics; syntax; Grammatik; semantik; semiotik;

    Sammanfattning : The topic of the present thesis is V1 declaratives in spoken Swedish. Such constructions constitute an interesting object for research due to the fact that Swedish is a V2 language where V1 word order is grammaticalized for yes/no questions. Hitherto we have lacked a thorough study of the phenomenon. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The Physical Foundation of the Patterning of Physical Action Verbs : A Study of Chinese Verbs

    Författare :Hong Gao; Allmän språkvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Languages and literatures of South and South-East Asia; verbal semantics; trajector; semantic representation; pyscholingistics; polysemy; physical reality; physical foundation; physical action verbs; observability; motion; lexicalization patterning; landmark; intentionality; innateness; physical contact; force-dynamics; combinability; conflation; cognitive semantics; active zone; affectability; Chinese; Kinesiska och språk och litteratur från Syd- och Sydostasien; Linguistics; Lingvistik; Grammar; semantics; semiotics; syntax; Grammatik; semantik; semiotik;

    Sammanfattning : This work is a study of verbal semantics with a focus on the discussion and illustration of the role of body parts and the semantic incorporation into verbal roots of the actions that involve various body parts. Following a general discussion of the basic issues of language construction and human body actions with the image schemas of force-dynamics presented in line with the framework of cognitive semantics, it is argued that the event structures of physical action verbs are not arbitrarily constructed but rather the constructions are built through systematic cognitive processes in relation to both human physical reality and concrete reality in the world. 5. 5. Multilingual Grammars and Universal Dependencies

    Författare :Kolachina Prasanth; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NLP; Grammatical Framework; Universal Dependencies; Abstract Syntax; Grammatical Framework;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract syntax trees are an alternative representation to syntactic structures commonly found in NLP systems. This representation allows for sharing of structures across languages, making it well suited to serve as a translation interlingua. LÄS MER
