  1. 1. On the role of actin in yeast protein quality control

    Författare :Lisa Larsson Berglund; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Protein quality control; Actin; Protein aggregate; Segregation; Polarisome; CCT; Huntingtin;

    Sammanfattning : Every cell is equipped with a protein quality control system to ensure the proper function of proteins. This is essential for both cell maintenance and the generation of new and healthy cells. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On chaperone co-operation in temporal and spatial protein quality control

    Författare :Rebecca Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular chaperones; Heat shock proteins; Hsp70 chaperones; Proteostasis; Ageing; Asymmetric damage segregation; Peroxiredoxins; Spatial protein quality control;

    Sammanfattning : In order for a protein to be able to function correctly it needs to adopt its proper fold. Because of this, protein quality control (PQC) is vital at every level of cellular function. The central protein in PQC networks across all kingdoms of life are the Hsp70 molecular chaperones. 3. 3. Spatial Tissue Mapping on Joint Biopsies from Arthritis Patients

    Författare :Konstantin Carlberg; Patrik Ståhl; Vivianne Malmström; Anna-Karin Hultgård Ekwall; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immune prediction; Rheumatoid arthritis; Spatial RIN; Spatial Transcriptomics; Spondyloarthritis; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease that mainly affects joints, causing discomfort and pain that severely reduces the life quality of affected individuals. Its etiology is largely unknown, but some pathophysiological mechanisms have been identified. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Proteostasis beyond chaperones - Auxiliary systems in the management of damaged proteins

    Författare :Rebecca Josefson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aging; proteostasis; protein quality control; asymmetric inheritance; vesicle trafficking;

    Sammanfattning : Aging entails loss of functionality and increased risk of death, even for unicellular organisms, such as the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. On a cellular level, aging is accompanied by an accumulation of harmful aging factors, e.g. damaged and aggregated proteins. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Applications of DNA origami encoded nanoscale patterns

    Författare :Ferenc Fördös; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : It was almost four decades ago when the recognition of DNA’s potential use as a programmable, self-assembling building material for nanostructures led to the birth and rapid expansion of the field of DNA nanotechnology, but it was two decades later when the development of the DNA origami technique initiated the widespread use of DNA based nanoconstructs through the simplification of the design process and the reduction of the required control over the quality and stoichiometry of the assembly components by using a single-stranded “scaffold” DNA and a set of “staple” oligonucleotides that “fold” the mentioned scaffold DNA into a predesigned shape by binding different regions of the scaffold strand together. This robust approach not only permitted the construction of intricate two- and three-dimensional structures, but it also allowed the design and fabrication of molecular patterns with unprecedented accuracy as each functionalizible component’s relative position in the DNA origami structure is known to nanometer precision.
