1. Attrition in Studies of Cognitive Aging
Sammanfattning : Longitudinal studies of cognition are preferred to cross-sectional stud- ies, since they offer a direct assessment of age-related cognitive change (within-person change). Statistical methods for analyzing age-related change are widely available. LÄS MER
2. On estimation in econometric systems in the presence of time-varying parameters
Sammanfattning : Economic systems are often subject to structural variability. For the achievement of correct structural specification in econometric modelling it is then important to allow for parameters that are time-varying, and to apply estimation techniques suitably designed for inference in such models. 3. Bayesian Sequential Inference for Dynamic Regression Models
Sammanfattning : Many processes evolve over time and statistical models need to be adaptive to change. This thesis proposes flexible models and statistical methods for inference about a data generating process that varies over time. The models considered are quite general dynamic predictive models with parameters linked to a set of covariates via link functions. LÄS MER
4. Exploring patterns of empirical networks
Sammanfattning : We are constantly struggling to understand how nature works, trying to identify recurrent events and looking for analogies and relations between objects or individuals. Knowing patterns of behavior is powerful and fundamental for survival of any species. LÄS MER
5. Random Multigraphs : Complexity Measures, Probability Models and Statistical Inference
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with multigraphs and their complexity which is defined and quantified by the distribution of edge multiplicities. Two random multigraph models are considered. The first model is random stub matching (RSM) where the edges are formed by randomly coupling pairs of stubs according to a fixed stub multiplicity sequence. LÄS MER
