6. Computational studies of flow in Couette Rheometer and particle interaction in non-Newtonian fluids
Sammanfattning : This work aims to study the flow of non-Newtonian fluids and has two main goals. First, the power-law and Herschel Bulkley fluids are studied in a Couette rheometer. Second, the static and dynamic interaction of dual particles in power-law fluid are investigated. LÄS MER
7. Modeling of dielectrophoresis in micro and nano systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents models and simulations of dielectrophoretic separation of micro and nano particles. The fluid dynamics involved and the dielectric properties of water inside single-walled carbon nanotube are studied as well. LÄS MER
8. Bridging Single-Particle Characterisation Gaps of Optical Microscopy in the Nano-Submicron Regime
Sammanfattning : As the practical importance of particles in the nano-submicron size regime continues to increase in both biomedical applications and industrial processes, so does the need for accurate and versatile characterisation methods. Optical scattering microscopy methods are commonly used for single-particle characterisation as they provide quick measurements at physiologically relevant conditions with detection limits reaching down to individual biomolecules. 9. Numerical modeling of dielectrophoresis
Sammanfattning : We investigate the dielectrophoretic separation of microparticles. Two different models are formulated in two characteristic time scales. The first model mainly accounts for the orientation behavior and rotational motion of non-spheric microparticles. The concept of effective charge is suggested to calculate the finite size non-spheric particles. LÄS MER
10. Searches for Particle Dark Matter : Dark stars, dark galaxies, dark halos and global supersymmetric fits
Sammanfattning : The identity of dark matter is one of the key outstanding problems in both particle and astrophysics. In this thesis, I describe a number of complementary searches for particle dark matter. LÄS MER
