16. Estimating Effective Interactions from Particle Trajectories
Sammanfattning : The theoretical and practical understanding of molecular systems is strongly dependent on computer simulations. All-atom molecular dynamics techniques are capable of sim- ulating systems on the scale of millions of particles up to about 100 ns. LÄS MER
17. Quantum Few-Body Physics with the Configuration Interaction Approach: Method Development and Application to Physical Systems
Sammanfattning : This dissertation, based on six included papers, theoretically investigates properties of quantum few-particle systems. An overview of related experimental research - ultra-cold trapped dilute gases, and electrons in quantum dots - is given, followed by a description of some of the studied many-particle phenomena - Bose-Einstein condensation, quantized vortices, Wigner localization and the Tonks-Girardeau gas. 18. Non-Spherical Particle Interaction in Duct and Jet Flow
Sammanfattning : Wood waste is the most popular biomass recourse for many nations. Burned wood can, direct or indirect, release one of the greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide. The process can still be seen as a renewable source of energy since replanting of the trees and crops are consuming nearly the same amount of carbon dioxide through photosynthesis. LÄS MER
19. Development and Applications of Detailed Kinetic Models for the Soot Particle Size Distribution Function
Sammanfattning : Two different mathematical methods of implementing a detailed kinetic soot model have been employed in this work. The theoretical description of the soot modeling employed in this work is divided into three parts. Initially a detailed kinetic soot model is described from a chemistry and physics perspective. 20. Microfluidic Cell and Particle Sorting using Deterministic Lateral Displacement
Sammanfattning : Microfluidics is a field which has the potential to revolutionize medical diagnostics. The ability to sort and analyse cells by the use of portable handheld devices has the potential to enable sensitive devices for point-of-care diagnostics. LÄS MER
