  1. 1. A Database of Microwave Single Scattering Properties of Ice Hydrometeors

    Författare :Robin Nils Ekelund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; radar; ice hydrometeors; microwave; scattering properties; sub-millimetre; remote sensing;

    Sammanfattning : Microwave remote sensing by satellites is important for global observations of ice hydrometeors. Interpretation of the measurements requires sufficiently accurate knowledge of hydrometeors’ interaction with photons, i.e.  article scattering and absorption. LÄS MER

  2. 2. A database of single scattering properties for hydrometeors at microwave and sub-millimetre frequencies

    Författare :Robin Nils Ekelund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sub-millimetres; Hydrometeors; microwaves; clouds; single scattering properties; satellites.; remote sensing; water vapour;

    Sammanfattning : Remote sensing observations of hydrometeors (ice or liquid water particles) at microwave and sub-millimetre wavelengths provide important input to numerical weather forecasting through data assimilation and give insight to cloud processes that are relevant for climate prediction. The utilization of such measurements requires information on the single scattering properties (SSP), i. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Effects of wood ash on freshwater organisms and aquatic forest ecosystems

    Författare :K. Andreas Aronsson; Nils Ekelund; Thomas Palo; Olli-Pekka Penttinen; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Wood ash; Euglena gracilis; Gammarus pulex; Fontinalis antipyretica; pH; alkalinity; toxicity; nutrients; first order stream; Askåterföring; Vedaska; Akvatiska näringssystem; Mineralnäring; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Wood ash application (WAA) has been recommended mainly for two reasons; i) to avoid depletion of minerals in the soil due to whole tree harvest in the forestry and ii) to mitigate harmful effects of acidification of soil and surface waters. In conclusion, the effects on terrestrial ecosystems and, especially, tree growth, can be attributed to the properties of the ash, the dose applied and the specific site at which the ash is applied. Sammanfattning : The in origin intertidal marine brown alga Fucus vesiculosus L. grow permanently sublittoral in the brackish Bothnian Sea, side by side with the recently discovered F. radicans L. Bergström et L. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Heavy metal contamination and toxicity : Studies of Macroalgae from the Tanzanian Coast

    Författare :Florence Alex Mamboya; Mats Björk; Nils Ekelund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Heavy metals; Padina gymnospora; Ulva reticulata; salinity; nutrients; proteins; uptake; growth; Fv Fm; Zanzibar Channel; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; växtfysiologi; Plant Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Concentrations of various metals are elevated above background levels in several intertidal areas along the Tanzanian coasts. However, there is little available information concerning the toxicity of these metals and how the uptake of these metals by bioindicators are influenced by external factors, such as heavy rains and increased coastal eutrophication, which tend to fluctuate.
