36. Modelling the effects of organic aerosol phase partitioning processes on cloud formation
Sammanfattning : Atmospheric aerosols particles may act as cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) that provide sites for condensation of water vapour for the formation of cloud droplets, called cloud droplet activation. Whether aerosol particles are CCN is determined by their size, composition and the ambient humidity. LÄS MER
37. Enhanced block sparse signal recovery and bayesian hierarchical models with applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis is carried out within two projects ‘Statistical modelling and intelligentdata sampling in Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron-emission tomography(PET) measurements for cancer therapy assessment’ and ‘WindCoE -Nordic Wind Energy Center’ during my PhD study. It mainly focuses on applicationsof Bayesian hierarchical models (BHMs) and theoretical developments ofcompressive sensing (CS). LÄS MER
38. On reflections of wood : wood quality features modelled by means of multivariate image projections to latent structures in multispectral images
Sammanfattning : Classifying logs and boards has an essential economic impact on the forest products industry. In a modern production chain, quality control and raw material specifications are essential to fulfill production system demands as well as end user demands. LÄS MER
39. Process modelling in pulp and paper manufacture : Application studies with aspects of energy efficiency and product quality
Sammanfattning : The manufacture of pulp and paper is an energy intensive process configured of several unit processes that shape a network of flows of wood chips, chemical pulp, mechanical pulp, board and other important components. Improved energy efficiency supports sustainability of the process and the products. LÄS MER
40. Some Investigations into the Class of Exponential Power Distributions
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, methods are developed relating to the exponential power class of distributions.Paper I considers Bayesian linear mixed models where the usual normality assumption is replaced by the multivariate exponential power distribution. Particular focus lies on Bayesian testing of the fixed effects. LÄS MER
