21. Electromagnetic dispersion modeling and analysis for HVDC power cables
Sammanfattning : Derivation of an electromagnetic model, regarding the wave propagation in a very long (10 km or more) High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) power cable, is the central part of this thesis. With an existing “perfect” electromagnetic model there are potentially a wide range of applications. LÄS MER
22. Characterization of particulate matter from atmospheric fluidized bed biomass gasifiers
Sammanfattning : Through biomass gasification, biomass can be converted at high temperature to a product gas rich in carbon monoxide, hydrogen, and methane. After cleaning and upgrading, the product gas can be converted to biofuels such as hydrogen; methanol; dimethyl ether; and synthetic diesel, gasoline, and natural gas. LÄS MER
23. Mille-feuille Filter : A Non-woven Nano-cellulose Based Virus Removal Filter for Bioprocessing
Sammanfattning : Virus removal filters, produced from synthetic surface-modified polymers or regenerated cellulose by phase inversion, are vital to the production of therapeutic proteins such as monoclonal antibodies and plasma proteins. Use of these filters is also one of the most expensive purification steps in the downstream processing of proteins due to high sales price and being limited to a single use. LÄS MER
24. Type-II interband quantum dot photodetectors
Sammanfattning : Photon detectors based on single-crystalline materials are of great interest for high performance imaging applications due to their low noise and fast response. The major detector materials for sensing in the long-wavelength infrared (LWIR) band (8-14 µm) are currently HgCdTe (MCT) and AlGaAs/GaAs quantum wells (QW) used in intraband-based quantum-well infrared photodetectors (QWIPs). 25. Degenerate Geometries, Supersymmetry and Duality
Sammanfattning : String theory is a theory attempting to unify gravity with the electro-weak and strong interactions so successfully described by Quantum Field Theory. The implications of String Theory is not fully understood since it is still not a complete theory. LÄS MER
