1. Contributions to low-complexity digital filters
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we discuss design and implementation of low-complexity digital filters. Digital filters are key components in many digital signal processing (DSP) systems. Typical applications include interpolation, decimation, and noise suppression. The work presented in the thesis can be divided into four parts. LÄS MER
2. On mapping of digital filter algorithms to hardware
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we discuss various issues involving the design path for low power design of frequency-selective digital filters. As recursive filters have a bound on the minimal iteration period, Tmin we focus on these. Implementations that obtain Tmin are known as maximally fast. LÄS MER
3. Type-II interband quantum dot photodetectors
Sammanfattning : Photon detectors based on single-crystalline materials are of great interest for high performance imaging applications due to their low noise and fast response. The major detector materials for sensing in the long-wavelength infrared (LWIR) band (8-14 µm) are currently HgCdTe (MCT) and AlGaAs/GaAs quantum wells (QW) used in intraband-based quantum-well infrared photodetectors (QWIPs). 4. On the Implementation of Integer and Non-Integer Sampling Rate Conversion
Sammanfattning : The main focus in this thesis is on the aspects related to the implementation of integer and non-integer sampling rate conversion (SRC). SRC is used in many communication and signal processing applications where two signals or systems having different sampling rates need to be interconnected. LÄS MER
5. Complexity and Power Reduction in Digital Delta-Sigma Modulators
Sammanfattning : A number of state-of-the-art low power consuming digital delta-sigma modulator (ΔΣ) architectures for digital-to-analog converters (DAC) are presented in this thesis. In an oversampling ΔΣ DAC, the primary job of the modulator is to reduce the word length of the digital control signal to the DAC and spectrally shape the resulting quantization noise. LÄS MER
