  2. 2. Physical Activity and Alzheimer's Disease : Measurements, Observations and Subjective Experiences

    Författare :Ylva Cedervall; Anna Cristina Åberg; Lars Lannfelt; Lena Kilander; Per-Olof Sandman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Caregiver; continuity theory; dementia; dual-task; gait analysis; in-depth interview; mixed methods research; participant observation; physical capacity; qualitative; selfhood; walking; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi; Geriatrics; Geriatrik;

    Sammanfattning : Gait disturbances such as slow walking speed and step-to-step variability have been reported among people with mild Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and as risk factors for functional decline, dependency, and falls. Additionally, AD-related emotional reactions and decreased initiative can lead to physical inactivity. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Biomarkers as Monitors of Drug Effect, Diagnostic Tools and Predictors of Deterioration Rate in Alzheimer’s Disease

    Författare :Malin Degerman Gunnarsson; Lena Kilander; Hans Basun; Jan Marcusson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alzheimer s disease; biomarkers; CSF; PIB PET; amyloid-beta; tau; rapid cognitive decline; dying in severe dementia; mortality; neuropsychological tests; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Decreased amyloid-ß42 (Aß42), increased total tau (t-tau) and phosphorylated tau (p-tau) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) reflect histopathological core changes in the most common dementia disorder, Alzheimer’s disease (AD). They discriminate AD from healthy controls and predict conversion to AD with a relatively high accuracy. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Independent Ageing in Very Old Swedish Men

    Författare :Kristin Franzon; Lena Kilander; Björn Zethelius; Tommy Cederholm; Jan Marcusson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Independent ageing; survival; sarcopenia; comorbidity; body mass index; smoking; dietary pattern; dietary biomarkers; longitudinal; octogenarians; nonagenarians; Geriatrics; Geriatrik;

    Sammanfattning : Predictors for survival have been investigated thoroughly, but less is known about how to reach high age with preserved physical and cognitive function. These functions are crucial to stay independent in daily life, which is highly valued by the oldest old.This thesis was based on data from the Uppsala Longitudinal Study in Adult Men. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Visual assessment of perfusion and metabolism in neurodegenerative dementia

    Författare :David Fällmar; Elna-Marie Larsson; Lena Kilander; Mark Lubberink; Ian Law; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dementia; Neurodegenerative; Brain imaging; Diagnostics; Neuroradiology; Neuroimaging; Demens; Neurodegenerativ; Hjärnavbildning; diagnostik; Neuroradiologi; Neuroimaging; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : A worldwide demographic shift is currently occurring, with rapidly increasing numbers of elderly individuals. Since the incidence of neurodegenerative disease generally increases with age, this entails an increase in dementia prevalence. LÄS MER
