    Sammanfattning : Pattern-recognition receptors (PRRs) include the cell surface or endosomal membrane localized Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and the cytoplasmic PRRs such as RIG-I-like receptors (RLRs), NOD-like receptors (NLRs) and cytoplasmic DNA receptors (CDRs). Triggering of PRRs culminates in the transcriptional induction of pro-inflammatory cytokines and type I interferons (IFNs) that coordinate protection against pathogens but require tight control to avert inflammatory diseases. 2. 2. Tumor-mediated changes in the immune system of cancer patients : a balancing act between suppressors and effectors

    Författare :Isabel Poschke; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Tumors and immune cells interact in many ways: immune cells can recognize and even kill tumor cells, while the tumor on the other hand can induce cells of the immune system to participate in tumor-mediated immune subversion. We studied immunosuppressive effects that human tumors exert on immune effector cells, particularly T cells, by inducing suppressive myeloid cells and decreasing T cell functional capacity. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is an RNA virus that causes chronic infection, which can lead to hepatocellular carcinomas in humans. Besides liver diseases, the chronic HCV infection causes a broad spectrum of extrahepatic complications such as lymphoproliferative, metabolic and autoimmune disorders. LÄS MER
