  1. 16. Wireless esophageal PH monitoring. Clinical evaluation of a new technique

    Författare :Jörgen Wenner; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; thresholds; specificity; sensitivity; diagnostic accuracy; adverse symptoms; wireless; pH monitoring; gastroesophageal reflux disease; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Esophageal pH monitoring is important in the clinical management of patients with symptoms suggestive of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and in research aiming to clarify the mechanisms involved in the development of GERD complications. Catheter-based techniques for pH recording are uncomfortable, not well tolerated by all patients and cannot reliably measure acid exposure in the most distal esophagus the region most prone to reflux-induced complications. 2. 17. Sleep disturbances : Consequences and comorbidities

    Författare :Shadi Amid Hägg; Eva Lindberg; Mirjam Ljunggren; Göran Kecklund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Insomnia; sleep; reflux; snoring; occupational accidents; smoking; hypertension; Lungmedicin; Lung Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Sleep disorders are common in the general population, with insomnia and sleep-related breathing disorders being the most common disorders. Since sleep has many important functions, such as a role in consolidation of memories and learning, energy conservation, cardiovascular and immune system regulation, it is not surprising that the disruption of normal sleep may lead to negative health effects and various comorbidities. 3. 18. Functional Dyspepsia : Symptoms and Response to Omeprazole in the Short Term

    Författare :Elisabeth Bolling-Sternevald; Hans Glise; Rein Seensalu; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Dyspepsia; drug therapy; omeprazole; gastrointestinal symptoms; peptic ulcer disease PUD ; malignancy; gastroesophageal reflux disease GERD ; dyspeptic symptoms; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Gastrointestinal symptoms have a prevalence of 20-40% in the general adult population in the Western world. These symptoms are generally considered to be poor predictors of organic findings [e.g. peptic ulcer disease (PUD) or malignancy]. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Aspects of gastroesophageal reflux and risk for esophageal cancer : an epidemiological approach

    Författare :Weimin Ye; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Gastroesophageal reflux; anti-reflux surgery; esophagus; adenocarcinoma; squamous- cell carcinoma; H. pylori; gastric atrophy; DNA repair gene; polymorphism; cohort study; case-control study; relative risk;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: The aims of this study were to confirm, in a prospective study, the link between gastroesophageal reflux. and risk of adenocarcinoma of the esophagus and gastroesophageal junction observed in retrospective studies, to investigate into the effects of anti-reflux surgery, and to shed light on some possible mechanisms behind the alleged carcinogenicity. 5. 20. The Synthesis and Use of Certain Pyridine Derivatives as Modulators of the G-protein Coupled Receptors mGlu5 and P2Y12

    Författare :Peter Bach; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mGluR5; P2Y12; gastroesophageal reflux disease GERD ; thrombosis; ethyl nicotinates; ureas; sulfonylureas; oxazoles; bioisosteres; regioselectivity; solvent effect.;

    Sammanfattning : The glutamatergic mGlu5 receptor and the purinergic P2Y12 receptor are two important targets in the development of novel treatments of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and thrombosis, respectively. Synthesis was developed to investigate the structure-activity relationships (SAR) of a novel series of 2-alkynylpyridine derivatives as mGluR5 antagonists. LÄS MER
