  1. 1. Insulin Resistance Causes, biomarkers and consequences

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Christoph Nowak; Uppsala universitet.; [2017]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; insulin resistance; diabetes; insulin secretion; cardiovascular; mendelian randomization; proteomics; metabolomics; genomics; molecular epidemiology; complex disease; risk prediction; coronary heart disease; stroke; hyperglycemia;

    Sammanfattning : The worldwide increasing number of persons affected by largely preventable diseases like diabetes demands better prevention and treatment. Insulin is required for effective utilisation of circulating nutrients. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Membrane rafts and its GPI anchored complement inhibitors regulate insulin secretion

    Detta är en avhandling från Islet patophysiology, Clinical Sciences, Malmö

    Författare :Vini Nagaraj; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2015]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Membrane rafts; basal insulin secretion; regulated insulin secretion; CD59; CD55; SNARE proteins; insulin; pancreatic beta cells.;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetic patients usually exhibit an abnormal lipid profile. One such lipid that is constantly elevated in T2D is cholesterol. At the cellular level, cholesterol aids in tight packing of sphingolipids in certain regions of the plasma membrane and these specialized regions are termed ‘membrane rafts’, which act as signalling hubs. 3. 3. Assessment and Treatment of Impaired Insulin- Secretion and Action in Type 2 Diabetes

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Författare :Mozhgan Dorkhan; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2008]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 2 diabetes; insulin secretion; glucagon test; insulin resistance; insulin glargine; insulin tolerance test; thiazolidinediones; natriuretic peptides; adiponectin; thyroid associated ophthalmopathy; proinsulin;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a disease characterised by varying degrees of defect in insulin secretion and insulin sensitivity and associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Optimal glycaemic control reduces the progression of diabetic complications. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Regulation of intracellular signaling events that modulate insulin action

    Detta är en avhandling från Göteborg

    Författare :Silvia Gogg; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2002]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; insulin; insulin resistance; EGF; Gab 1; insulin receptor substrate; PI3-kinase; Thiazolidinediones; PPARã; insulin signaling; glucose transport; adipose tissue; â-cell.;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin regulates several mechanisms of fundamental importance to the body involving glucose, fat andprotein metabolism. Insulin resistance in skeletal muscle, liver and adipose tissue promotes an increaseddemand for insulin secretion. LÄS MER

  5. 5. THE ROLE OF PHOSPHODIESTERASE 3B IN CAMP-MEDIATED REGULATION OF INSULIN SECRETION

    Detta är en avhandling från Medical Faculty, Lund University

    Författare :Helena Jones; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2007]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cAMP; PDE3B; exocytosis; insulin; diabetes; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; diabetologi; sekretion; Endokrinologi; diabetology; Endocrinology; secreting systems;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is characterized by various combinations of ?-cell failure and insulin resistance leading to hyperglycemia and glucose intolerance. In order to maintain glucose tolerance in the insulin resistance state, increased insulin secretion is a requirement and it is because of inadequate islet adaptation that glucose intolerance develops in T2DM.
