    Sammanfattning : Atomically thin materials have been in the spotlight of research during the last decade due to their exceptional properties, providing a platform for the study of novel physical phenomena. In particular, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have emerged as promising atomically thin materials for future optoelectronic applications owing to their strong light-matter interaction and their high tunability. 3. 23. Hydrogen Bonding in Liquid Alcohols

    Författare :Per Sillrén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrogen Bonded Liquids; Physics of liquids; Diffraction; Monte Carlo Simulation; Alcohols; Neutron Scattering; EPSR;

    Sammanfattning : Hydrogen bonded (H-bonded) materials, such as water, alcohols, sugars, and even DNA, are extremely important for biology, as well as chemical industry. Alcohols are used as solvents in paints, in perfumes, as cleaners, anti-freezers, or as an alternative to petrol in combustion engines. LÄS MER

    Författare :Christian Asker; Igor Abrikosov; Jörg Neugebauer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Iron; Nickel; Magnesium; Manganese; Molybdenum; Zirconium; Elastic Constants; High pressure; Earth s core; Density-functional theory; Ab-initio; First-Principles; Core-level shifts; Molecular Dynamics; Phonons; Dynamical Instability; Condensed matter physics; Kondenserade materiens fysik; Computational physics; Beräkningsfysik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, quantum-mechanical calculations within density-functional theory on metallic systems are presented. The overarching goal has been to investigate effects of disorder. In particular, one of the properties investigated is the bindingenergy shifts for core electrons in binary alloys using different theoretical methods. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Neutron induced light-ion production from iron and bismuth at 175 MeV

    Författare :Riccardo Bevilacqua; Stephan Pomp; Magnus Wolke; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Light-ions (protons, deuterons, tritons, 3He and α articles) production in the interaction of 175 MeV neutrons with iron and bismuth has been measured using the Medley setup at the The Svedberg Laboratory (TSL) in Uppsala. These measurements have been conducted in the frame of an international collaboration whose aim is to provide the scientific community with new nuclear data of interest for the development of Accelerator Driven Systems, in the range of 20 to 200 MeV.
