21. Experimental Studies of the Synthesis and the Survival Probability of Transactinides
Sammanfattning : In 1999 scientists in Dubna announced the successful synthesis of the nucleus 283112 by the reaction 48Ca+ 238U, with a cross-section of 5.0 pb. The isotope was found to decay by spontaneous fission (t1/2=81 s). LÄS MER
22. Microscopic Modeling of Exciton Propagation and Dissociation in Two-Dimensional Materials
Sammanfattning : Atomically thin materials have been in the spotlight of research during the last decade due to their exceptional properties, providing a platform for the study of novel physical phenomena. In particular, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have emerged as promising atomically thin materials for future optoelectronic applications owing to their strong light-matter interaction and their high tunability. 23. Hydrogen Bonding in Liquid Alcohols
Sammanfattning : Hydrogen bonded (H-bonded) materials, such as water, alcohols, sugars, and even DNA, are extremely important for biology, as well as chemical industry. Alcohols are used as solvents in paints, in perfumes, as cleaners, anti-freezers, or as an alternative to petrol in combustion engines. LÄS MER
24. Effects of disorder in metallic systems from First-Principles calculations
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, quantum-mechanical calculations within density-functional theory on metallic systems are presented. The overarching goal has been to investigate effects of disorder. In particular, one of the properties investigated is the bindingenergy shifts for core electrons in binary alloys using different theoretical methods. LÄS MER
25. Neutron induced light-ion production from iron and bismuth at 175 MeV
Sammanfattning : Light-ions (protons, deuterons, tritons, 3He and α articles) production in the interaction of 175 MeV neutrons with iron and bismuth has been measured using the Medley setup at the The Svedberg Laboratory (TSL) in Uppsala. These measurements have been conducted in the frame of an international collaboration whose aim is to provide the scientific community with new nuclear data of interest for the development of Accelerator Driven Systems, in the range of 20 to 200 MeV.
