Målet att uppnå universal tillgång till el under det kommande decenniet – i enlighet med mål 7 av de globala målen för hållbar utveckling (SDG 7) – indikerar att många länder snart kommer att behöva införa riktlinjer, handlingsplaner och policys för att påskynda elektrifieringstakten.
