1. Hydrogen in nano-sized metals : Diffusion and hysteresis effects
Sammanfattning : Metal hydrides can be used as hydrogen storage materials for fuel cells and batteries, and as sensors for detecting hydrogen gas. The use of metal hydrides for hydrogen storage can be hindered by poor kinetics and low capacity. Moreover, poor sensitivity, long recovery and response time, limit the applications of metal hydrides as hydrogen sensors. LÄS MER
2. Lung function in relation to exercise capacity in health and disease
Sammanfattning : Background: Exercise capacity (EC) is widely recognized as a strong and independent predictor of mortality and disease progression in various diseases, including cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. Furthermore, it is generally accepted that exercise capacity in healthy individuals and in patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases is mainly limited by the maximum cardiac output. LÄS MER
3. On diffusion of organic colloids in compacted bentonite
Sammanfattning : The main issue of this thesis was to obtain information ondiffusion and sorption behaviour on organic colloids incompacted bentonite through experimental studies. It was tostudy if bentonite is an efficient barrier for organic colloidsor not. LÄS MER
4. Hydrogen diffusion and storage mechanisms in diopside
Sammanfattning : Hydrogen is a widespread trace element in many nominally anhydrous minerals (minerals without water or hydroxyl ions in their structural formula) from the Earth's crust and mantle. The hydrogen is normally incorporated in the form of hydroxyl ions and can be regarded as structurally bound water. LÄS MER
5. Energy Storage Materials: Insights From ab Initio Theory : Diffusion, Structure, Thermodynamics and Design
Sammanfattning : The development of science and technology have provided a lifestyle completely dependent on energy consumption. Devices such as computers and mobile phones are good examples of how our daily life depends on electric energy. LÄS MER
