1. Biomarker Discovery in Tissue-specific Autoimmune Disease
Sammanfattning : Autoimmune diseases encompass a diverse group of disorders that collectively affect 5% of the population. Despite large clinical variability, autoimmune disorders share a common etiology in that they all develop from immune responses against self. LÄS MER
2. Genetic Characterization of Chicken Models for Autoimmune Disease
Sammanfattning : Autoimmune diseases are endemic, but the disease mechanisms are poorly understood. A way to better understand these are to find disease-regulating genes. However, this is difficult as the diseases are complex, with several genes as well as environmental factors influencing the development of disease. LÄS MER
3. Platforms and strategies harnessing signaling pathways of multifactorial diseases by multispecific antibodies
Sammanfattning : Abstract [ENG]Proteins govern a multitude of biological functions vital to sustain life. The ability to withstand diseases development and harboring a defense against foreign pathogens is attributed to the wonders of the immune system and the proteins and cells its comprised of. LÄS MER
4. Studies of in vivo prostate amyloidosis and autoimmune responses towards amyloid structures in neurodegeneration
Sammanfattning : By using multidisciplinary analysis of CA inclusions in prostate glands of patients diagnosed with prostate cancer, we have revealed that their major components are the amyloid forms of S100A8 and S100A9 proteins associated with numerous inflammatory conditions and types of cancer. We have demonstrated that material closely resembling CA can be produced from S100A8/A9 in vitro and shows the characters of amyloids. LÄS MER
5. Cellular and molecular mechanisms in immune mediated hepatic fibrosis. A study of the inflammatory syndrome and fibrosis development of the NIF mouse liver
Sammanfattning : Fibrosis is the result of dysregulated inflammation and tissue repair, and is characterized by the excessive accumulation of extra cellular matrix (ECM) proteins. It causes detrimental effects to the afflicted tissue and can subsequently lead to organ failure. LÄS MER
