11. Design and Synthesis of Hepatitis C Virus NS3 Protease Inhibitors : Targeting Different Genotypes and Drug-Resistant Variants
Sammanfattning : Since the first approved hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3 protease inhibitors in 2011, numerous direct acting antivirals (DAAs) have reached late stages of clinical trials. Today, several combination therapies, based on different DAAs, with or without the need of pegylated interferon-α injection, are available for chronic HCV infections. LÄS MER
12. Tamiflu® - Use It and Lose It?
Sammanfattning : Influenza A viruses cause seasonal and pandemic outbreaks that range from mild infections to the disastrous Spanish Flu. Resistance to neuraminidase inhibitors (NAIs) is a growing problem as these drugs constitute a vital part of treatment strategies and pandemic preparedness plans worldwide. Oseltamivir (Tamiflu®) is the mostly used NAI. LÄS MER
13. Exploration of analytical methods to study motif-mediated host-virus protein-protein interactions
Sammanfattning : Proteins are responsible for countless processes in living creatures, but most often they do not perform these tasks alone. Rather, they engage in interactions with other proteins, creating whole protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks. LÄS MER
14. Identification of protease inhibitors against Flaviviruses and Coronaviruses
Sammanfattning : Vector-borne flaviviruses and coronaviruses of zoonotic origins are important human pathogens and represent a serious threat to public health worldwide. Flaviviruses can be found on all continents, apart from Antarctica, where they are transmitted by arthropod vectors causing millions of infections every year. LÄS MER
15. Retroviral and related nucleic acid processing enzymes expression and detection : Applications on clinical studies of HIV and HERVs
Sammanfattning : Reverse transcriptase (RT), the expression and detection of the enzyme marking the family Retroviridae, has been studied. A new RT activity assay adapted to 96-well microtitre plates is described. It uses a non- radioactive bromodeoxyuridine triphosphate (BrdUTP) substrate in a solid phase format. The assay was highly sensitive. LÄS MER
