11. Effects of gold- and silver nanoparticles on the retina
Sammanfattning : Over the past decade, a massive increase in the use of nanomaterials and nanoparticles (NPs) in both commercial and medical applications has occurred. Medical applications include advanced drug delivery vehicles, imaging and hyper thermic therapies. LÄS MER
12. Role of the hERG-channel in arrhythmia and teratogenicity : studies in animal models and the human embryonic heart
Sammanfattning : Background: Drugs that inhibit cardiac repolarization are associated with potentially life threatening side effects in the form of ventricular arrhythmias in humans. Animal studies show that this mechanism also is relevant for the embryo, and that the circulatory depression results in hypoxia with embryotoxicity in the form of malformations and death as a consequence. 13. Rethinking Social Impact Assessment through Urban Design: Towards designerly evaluation with a socio-form approach
Sammanfattning : Tools for assessing the social impact of urban designs are being developed internationally and in Swedish municipalities. While methodological development is underway, a theoretical discussion about the implications of urban design on social impact assessment (SIA) and its critical potential is rare, leading to the situation whereby much SIA is instrumental and might act against reinforcing and improved integration of the social dimension into the practice of urban planning and design. 14. Rock Mass behavior and Cap Rock Stability at the Malmberget Mine
Sammanfattning : Rock Mass behavior and Cap Rock Stability at the Malmberget MineThe LKAB Malmberget mine is mined using sublevel caving. This mining method requires continuous caving of the hangingwall, which also result in ground deformations on the surface. LÄS MER
15. Clinical and experimental studies on oxidized fragrance terpenes as contact allergens
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis aims to improve the possibilities for diagnosing contact allergy to oxidized limonene and linalool and to, in patients, study contact allergy from structurally closely related hydroperoxides with regard to their specificity, potency and cross-reactivity. The fragrance terpenes limonene (from citrus oil) and linalool (from lavender oil) are widely used in household and industrial products. LÄS MER
