  1. 1. Physical activity in Parkinson’s disease : measurement, correlates and effects of balance training

    Författare :Håkan Nero; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate correlates of physical activity in older adults with Parkinson’s disease and to evaluate the effects, both short- and long term, of the HiBalance program on physical activity and sedentary. Further, to investigate the associated factors of a training effect on physical activity. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Gait and balance in Parkinson's disease : psychometric properties and effects of training

    Författare :Niklas Löfgren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overarching aims of this thesis were to: evaluate the psychometric properties of a new clinical balance tool in People with Parkinson’s disease (PwPD) with mild to moderate disease severity; as well as to investigate the effects of a new gait and balance training regime, developed to target specific symptoms commonly observed in this population. Methods: Paper one entailed the evaluation of a balance tool’s (the Mini-BESTest) reproducibility in a clinical context, when used in PwPD. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Circuit-level analyses of cortico-basal ganglia-thalamic networks. Effects of dopamine dysregulation and experience dependent plasticity

    Författare :Nedjeljka Ivica; Integrativ neurofysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :systems neurophysiology; multi-channel recording; motor control; Parkinson s disease; oscillations; dyskinesia; plasticity;

    Sammanfattning : The cortico-basal ganglia-thalamic (CBT) circuit is thought to be involved in control of voluntary and goal-directed movements and action selection. Dopamine is known to play a crucial role in this circuit and regulating its activity. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Balance control in older adults with Parkinson’s disease : effects of medication and exercise

    Författare :David Conradsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: To investigate the effects of dopaminergic medications on turning while walking in older adults with mild to moderate Parkinson’s disease (PD). A further aim was to develop a training program targeting balance impairments related to PD, to verify the progression of this program and the specific effects on balance and gait, as well as the transfer effects on everyday living. 5. 5. The supporting conversation partner in disordered communication

    Författare :Karin Eriksson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; conversational interaction; supported communication; aphasia; Parkinson’s disease; conversation partners; communication partner training; cognitive factors; assessment;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of the thesis was to examine some aspects of conversation partners (CP) of people with communication disorder caused by stroke-induced aphasia or Parkinson’s disease (PwCD). Central questions were (i) can conversation partners learn to adapt their communicative behaviour in conversation to the specific needs of the persons with communication impairment and (ii) are there any associations between characteristics of the participants in conversation and the ability to be a supportive communication partner? Factors that might influence the quantitative measurement of communicative behaviour were also examined. LÄS MER
