16. Cavitation Mechanisms Related to Erosion Studies on Kaplan Turbines, Foils, and Propellers
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis work is to study cavitation behaviours related to erosion. The focus is on processes of observable scale, i.e. the process prior to the micro scale level at which the actual damage is generated. LÄS MER
17. Lignocellulose Degradation by Soil Micro-organisms
Sammanfattning : Lignocellulosic biomass is a sustainable resource with abundant reserves. Compared to petroleum ‐ based products, the biomass ‐ derived polymers and chemicals give better environmental profiles. A lot of research interest is focused on understanding the lignocellulose structures. LÄS MER
18. Towards Privacy Preserving Micro-data Analysis : A machine learning based perspective under prevailing privacy regulations
Sammanfattning : Machine learning (ML) has been employed in a wide variety of domains where micro-data (i.e., personal data) are used in the training process. LÄS MER
19. Grease lubrication mechanisms in bearing seals
Sammanfattning : Rolling bearings contain seals to keep lubricant inside and contaminants outside the bearing system. These systems are often lubricated with grease; the grease acts as a lubricant for the bearing and seal and improves the sealing efficiency. In this thesis, the influence of lubricating grease on bearing seal performance is studied. LÄS MER
20. Functionalized Biomaterial Surfaces by Micro- and Nanofabrication
Sammanfattning : In the field of biomaterials, well-defined nano- and micropatterns or features at material surfaces can serve both as models for investigating material-biosystem interactions and as functional features for inducing, hindering or measuring specific bioreactions or biologic responses. Important bioreactions include protein adsorption and conformation, cell attachment and function, and adhesion and function of organized tissues or whole organisms. LÄS MER
