  1. 16. Measuring outcomes following brain tumor surgery: a registry based approach

    Författare :Erik Thurin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; registry-based; neurosurgery; sick-leave; antidepressants;

    Sammanfattning : Meningiomas and vestibular schwannomas (VS) are generally slow-growing and benign brain tumors, with low rates of tumor-related mortality. Surgery is rarely the only viable treatment option. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Long-term health hazards from diagnostic X-ray exposure

    Författare :Arvid Nordenskjöld; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Medical imaging is an important function in the diagnosis and management of disease and its use have been increasing with technological advancements. A large part of medical imaging uses ionizing radiation as medium for imaging although it does pose potential risks to the patient. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Genetic analysis of neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) patients and NF2-associated tumors with emphasis on chromosome 22 deletions

    Författare :Carl E G Bruder; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) is an autosomal dominant disease with the hallmark of bilateral vestibular schwannomas. NF2 patients may also develop schwannomas at other locations as well as meningiomas, neurofibromas and ependymomas. NF2 shows a distinct clinical variability ranging from very mild to severe forms. 4. 19. Imaging diffusional variance by MRI [public] : The role of tensor-valued diffusion encoding and tissue heterogeneity

    Författare :Filip Szczepankiewicz; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Diffusion MRI provides a non-invasive probe of tissue microstructure. We recently proposed a novel method for diffusion-weighted imaging, so-called q-space trajectory encoding, that facilitates tensor-valued diffusion encoding. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Mobile phone use and risk of intracranial tumors

    Författare :Stefan Lönn; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Acoustic neuroma; brain tumor; case-control study; epidemiology; intracranial tumor; mobile phone; radiofrequency radiation;

    Sammanfattning : Mobile phones are today an integral part of many people's lives in western societies. The phones emit radiofrequency radiation when being used. Concerns have been raised about possible effects that the exposure may have on the health of the mobile phone user. LÄS MER
