6. Determination of protolytes by flow procedures : applications to liquors from the hydrometallurgical nickel industry
Sammanfattning : The general intention of this work is to contribute inreplacing complicated and time consuming titration methods foracid/base determination in cases where a rapid answer is morevaluable than a very high accuracy. The versatility of FlowInjection Analysis (FIA) is utilised for the determination ofprotolyte compounds, considering their role in our daily lifeas well as in science and technology. LÄS MER
7. Exploiting the Synergies from Coupled Electricity and Heat Distribution Networks : Modelling, simulation and optimization based on an extended energy hub approach
Sammanfattning : Recent literature shows that there is a significant potential of decarbonisation and efficiency improvement that can be achieved through the synergy from multi-energy systems (MESs). Coupling technologies, such as co-generation plants, heat pumps and thermal storages are widely recommended as means of unlocking additional flexibility and increasing the penetration of renewables in the heating and electricity sectors. 8. A Particle Image Velocimetry Study of Bubbly Gas-Liquid Flow
Sammanfattning : The aim of this work is to build a framework that can be used for characterizing the bubbly gas liquid turbulent flow in the stirred bioreactor tank. To this end we have developed and modified techniques with which to measure the velocity of both dispersed gas and carrier liquid phases by the optical measurement technique, a 2-CCD camera Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) system; and to characterize the turbulence by the wavelets tool, Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD). 9. Fluid flow through and deformation of wood fiber networks
Sammanfattning : Cellulose-based commercial items such as paper and laminated flooring are vital to the local economy of northern Sweden. These products are commonly manufactured in suspension where fluids such as water or air are drained through the fiber network in some value-added steps in the manufacturing process. LÄS MER
10. Entrained flow gasification of biomass: soot formation and flame stability
Sammanfattning : Entrained flow gasification (EFG) is a well-proven, commercially available technology for large scale coal gasification processes, with a production of a high quality syngas (a mixture of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen (H2), carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4) and other compounds). For biomass, the process is still under development and there are several hurdles that must be cleared before it can become commercial. LÄS MER
