11. Seismic-Reflection and Seismic-Refraction Imaging of the South Portuguese Zone Fold-and-Thrust Belt
Sammanfattning : The South Portuguese Zone (SPZ), which host world-class massive sulphide deposits, forms the southern fold-and-thrust belt of the Iberian Variscan orogeny. This thesis focuses on seismic-reflection and seismic-refraction processing efforts on a subset of the IBERSEIS deep seismic-reflection data set aiming at resolving the SPZ upper crust in high resolution. 12. Topics in multifractal measures, nonparametrics and biostatistics
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four papers. The first two papers, which comprise the main part of the thesis, deal with an unexpected connection between kernel density estimators and dimension spectra for multifractal measures. LÄS MER
13. Birch Stem and Wood Traits in Genetic and Silviculture Trials in Southern Sweden
Sammanfattning : Swedish tree species of birch (silver: Betula pendula and downy: B. pubescens) are often neglected during forest management activities, resulting in low value logs. This thesis investigated birch stem characteristics and wood properties important for solid wood products, in genetics and management trials in southern Sweden. LÄS MER
14. Some Factors Influencing Thermal Comfort and Air Quality in Residential Buildings. Field Measurements and Laboratory Tests
Sammanfattning : The main prerequisite for applying a specific ventilation system in residential buildings is that the demands set upon the indoor air quality and thermal climate can be satisfied. If this cannot be guaranteed using a simple exhaust system, a system with treated supply air, i.e. balanced ventilation, should be considered. LÄS MER
15. Morphological antipredator adaptations in water fleas
Sammanfattning : Some Bosmina and Daphnia species have the ability to develop extreme morphological antipredator defences, such as long antennules, high carapaces and helmets. The relative sizes of these plastic traits may differ substantially between populations, and also between individuals within a population, between sexes and during ontogeny. LÄS MER
