  1. 1. Univariate and Multivariate Surveillance of Outbreaks

    Författare :Linus Schiöler; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; change-points; expected delay; exponential family; false alarms; generalised likelihood; inference principles; influenza; MEWMA; monitoring; multivariate; ordered regression; performance metrics; outbreak; predictive value; subjective judgment; spatial; statistical models; surveillance; tularemia;

    Sammanfattning : In many areas there is a need to monitor observations in order to detect changes in the underlying processes as quickly as possible. The theory of statistical surveillance provides the possibility of making optimal decisions about whether a change has occurred or not based on the data available at the time of the decision. 2. 2. Multi-platform metabolomics assays to study the responsiveness of the human plasma and lung lavage metabolome

    Författare :Masoumeh Karimpour; Malin Nording L.; Magnus Åberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LC MS; GC MS; NMR; metabolomics; metabolite; exposure; postprandial; plasma; lung lavage; BW; BW; data analysis; univariate analysis; multivariate analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Metabolomics as a field has been used to track changes and perturbations in the human body by investigating metabolite profiles indicating the change of metabolite levels over time and in response to different challenges. In this thesis work, the main focus was on applying multiplatform-metabolomics to study the human metabolome following exposure to perturbations, such as diet (in the form of a challenge meal) and exhaust emissions (air pollution exposure in a controlled setting). 3. 3. Contributions to Small Area Estimation : Using Random Effects Growth Curve Model

    Författare :Innocent Ngaruye; Martin Singull; Dietrich von Rosen; Tapio Nummi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation considers Small Area Estimation with a main focus on estimation and prediction for repeated measures data. The demand of small area statistics is for both cross-sectional and repeated measures data. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Characterisation and Some Statistical Aspects of Univariate and Multivariate Generalised Pareto Distributions

    Författare :Nader Tajvidi; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; generalised Pareto distribution; multivariate extreme value theory; multivariate Pareto distribution; small sample properties; Bartlett s correction; maximum likelihood; statistical computations; simulation AMS 1991 subject classification: 62F11; 62E20; 60F17; 65U05; 62E20;

    Sammanfattning : Extreme value theory is about the distributions of very large or very small values in a time series or stochastic process. This has numerous applications connected with environmental science, civil engineering, materials science and insurance. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Reducing uncertainties in climate change impact studies through uni- and multivariate methods : A Nordic perspective

    Författare :Faranak Tootoonchi; Claudia Teutschbein; Jan O. Haerter; Olle Räty; Thomas Grabs; Alex J. Cannon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate change; precipitation and temperature; bias adjustment; bias correction; univariate and multivariate methods; hydrologic signatures; drought; Sweden; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot miljöanalys; Earth Science with specialization in Environmental Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change poses undeniable impacts on hydroclimatic processes due to simultaneous effects of rising temperature and changing precipitation patterns. To quantify these impacts, simulations of climate variables are typically retrieved from climate models, which are then downscaled and bias-adjusted for a particular study site. LÄS MER
