  1. 1. Multidisciplinary Near-Surface Investigation of a Quick-Clay Landslide Prone Area in Southwest Sweden

    Författare :Silvia Salas Romero; Alireza Malehmir; Ian Snowball; Christopher Juhlin; Laura Valentina Socco; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quick-clay; reflection seismic; landslide; southwest Sweden; borehole logging; physico-chemical properties; hydrogeological modelling; multichannel analysis of surface waves; magnetics; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Quick-clay landslides are considered one of the most important geohazards in Sweden, Norway, and Canada. The deposits involved are glacial and postglacial clays and silty clays, which are very sensitive to increased stress that may collapse their structure and cause liquefaction. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Predictions Within and Across Aquatic Systems using Statistical Methods and Models

    Författare :Peter H. Dimberg; Roger Herbert; Andreas C. Bryhn; Gesa Weyhenmeyer; Mikael Malmaeus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lake; Water quality; Chlorophyll-a; Total phosphorus; Seasonality; Morphometry; Regression model; Probability; Markov chain; Genetic programming; Temporal-trend; Earth Science with specialization in Environmental Analysis; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot miljöanalys;

    Sammanfattning : Aquatic ecosystems are an essential source for life and, in many regions, are exploited to a degree which deteriorates their ecological status. Today, more than 50 % of the European lakes suffer from an ecological status which is unsatisfactory. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Water Quality in Swedish Lakes and Watercourses : Modeling the Intra-Annual Variability

    Författare :Julia Hytteborn; Kevin H. Bishop; Andreas C. Bryhn; Johan Temnerud; Bergström Ann-Kristin; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Water quality is of great importance for ecosystems and society. This thesis characterized and modeled the variation in several key constituents of Swedish surface waters, with particular consideration given to intra-annual variability and sensitivity to climate change. 4. 4. Microplastic Mitigation in Urban Stormwater : Assessing Horizontal-Flow Filters of Bark, Biochar and Sand as Remediation Strategies

    Författare :Gabriella Rullander; Sahar S. Dalahmeh; Roger Herbert; Jes Vollertsen; Claudia Lorenz; Ann-Margret Strömvall; Giuliano Di Baldassarre; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Urban stormwater has been suggested as a significant vector through which microplastics (MPs) reach aquatic environments. Currently, only a small fraction of stormwater in Sweden undergoes any form of treatment. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Changes in Hydrological Risk Perception and Implications for Disaster Risk Reduction

    Författare :Elena Mondino; Giuliano Di Baldassarre; Johanna Mård; Teun Terpstra; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; risk perception; floods; droughts; disaster risk reduction; sociohydrology; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot miljöanalys; Earth Science with specialization in Environmental Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Economic losses caused by hydrological extremes, such as floods and droughts, are exacerbating because of increased anthropogenic activities and global environmental changes. Understanding how individuals and communities interact with hydrological extremes thus becomes fundamental to develop effective strategies for disaster risk reduction. LÄS MER
