  1. 1. Quantitative analysis of tumor growth and response to therapy

    Författare :Esmaeil Mehrara; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tumor; growth; response; therapy; modeling; clinical;

    Sammanfattning : Modeling the natural growth of tumors is of value for evaluation of tumor progression and optimization of treatment strategies. However, modeling tumor growth based on clinical data is hampered by the limited data available, since therapy is in general initiated as early as possible after diagnosis. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Natural history and prognostic factors in localized prostate cancer

    Författare :Ove Andrén; Jan-Erik Johansson; Ola Bratt; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate Cancer; Natural History; Ki-67; Survival; Prognostic factor; Tumor grade; TUR-P; Incidental; Tumor volume; MUC-1; AMACR; Urology and andrology; Urologi och andrologi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery esp. Urology Specific; Kirurgi; särskilt urologi;

    Sammanfattning : The natural history of localized prostate cancer is not fully understood. In most patients the tumor will never progress to a lethal disease, while a subset of patients will ultimately die of the disease. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Prognostic factors for squamous cell cervical cancer : tumor markers, hormones, smoking, and S-phase fraction

    Författare :Annika Lindström; Dan Hellberg; Roger Henriksson; Ulf Stendahl; Sonia Andersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Cervical cancer; squamous cell carcinoma; sex steroid hormones; smoking; S-phase fraction; tumor markers; LRIG1; prognosis.; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Oncology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cervical cancer is the second most common malignancy in women worldwide and one of the leading causes of cancer mortality globally. In patients with invasive cervical cancer prognostic factors are of value for the choice of treatment, monitoring of treatment and follow-up. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Heterogeneity and biopsy strategies in prostate cancer

    Författare :Lars Egevad; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Prostate cancer; core biopsy; tumor. volume; computer simulation; DNAploidy; tumor heterogeneity; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : For the diagnosis of prostate cancer, there is a need to develop biopsy strategies, that give representative information both for detection of cancer and for assessment of prognostic indicators.In 80 men, transrectal core biopsies from 10 standardized positions were taken before radical prostatectomy. 5. 5. Proton Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy in Brain Tumors - Clinical Applications

    Författare :Isabella Björkman-Burtscher; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiology; Clinical physics; Localization; Abscess; Brain; Tumor; Spectroscopy; Magnetic Resonance; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: · to present a test phantom and test method for evaluation of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) single volume localization techniques regarding signal contamination; · to describe the introduction of 1H-MRS in the daily routine of a standard MR-unit; · to evaluate the possibilities offered by 1H-MRS to improve preoperative diagnostic accuracy in patients scheduled for stereotactic biopsy of intracranial mass lesions; · to evaluate the possibilities offered by 1H-MRS to improve diagnostics and therapy control in patients with brain abscesses; · to test the hypothesis that 1H-MRS might be useful for differentiation of brain tumors, based on metabolic changes in tissue across brain lesions or surrounding tissue. Results and conclusions: · The test phantom and test method allow quality assessment with good reproducibility. LÄS MER
