  1. 11. Biotic and abiotic stress in microorganisms and plants: Some Mechanisms of Stress and Programmed Cell Death. Genetic Engineering Approaches Towards Improved Stress Tolerance

    Författare :Per-Johan Meijer; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biotic stress; plants; microorganisms; stress tolerance; antifreeze protein; proline; programmed cell death; systemic aquired resistance; Biochemistry; metabolism; Biokemi; Bioteknik; Biotechnology; abiotic stress;

    Sammanfattning : Various forms of stress, such as biotic and abiotic stress, were studied in microorganisms and plants to learn more about the underlying mechanisms of such stress and potential genetic engineering strategies towards stress tolerance. 2. 12. Metal Affinity Peptides in Biotechnological Applications As tools in protein purification, protein stabilisation, metal quantification and metal tolerance of bacteria and plants

    Författare :Malin Mejàre; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cadmium; metal quantification; fusion tag; metal affinity tag; phage display; peptide library; metal tolerance; metal resistance; metal accumulation; bioremediation; transgenic plant; tobacco; potato; protein purification; immobilised metal affinity chromatography; metal affinity precipitation; metal detection; protein stabilisation; Bioteknik; Biotechnology; Biokemi; Metabolism; Biochemistry; metal ion;

    Sammanfattning : Metal affinity tags have been fused to proteins and demonstrated to function as tools in protein purification, protein stabilisation, quantitative metal analysis and metal tolerance of bacteria and plants. In biotechnological applications proteins frequently have to function in nonnatural environments with harsh conditions which impose requirements for high stability on the proteins. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Molecular and Metabolic Aspects of Plant and Bacterial Salt Tolerance

    Författare :Peter Olsson; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; metabolism; gamma-aminobutyric acid; Nicotiana tabacum; salinity; hypoxia; heamoglobin; microarray; glycine betaine; NaCl; GABA; Vitreoscilla; calmodulin; Esherichia coli; tobacco; Biokemi; Metabolism; Biochemistry; Arabidopsis;

    Sammanfattning : Salt stress is one of the historically as well as potentially largest agriculture problem humans have faced. Researchers have investigated and tried to solve this problem for a long time. Over 20 reviews have been written on this topic the last five years. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Vitreoscilla Haemoglobin. Genetic Fusions and Metabolic Characterisation

    Författare :Viktoria Roos; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism; osmotic stress; transcript profiling; DNA microarrays; random elongation mutagenesis; directed evolution; mRNA structure; Vitreoscilla haemoglobin VHb ; Escherichia coli; salt stress.;

    Sammanfattning : Vitreoscilla is an obligate aerobic bacterium living in oxygen-poor environments such as stagnant ponds and decaying vegetable matter. Vitreoscilla expresses a homodimeric haemoglobin (VHb) when subjected to oxygen-limited conditions. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Antibodies and Antibody Mimics in Binding Assays

    Författare :Ioana Wärnmark; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymerteknik; biopolymers; ELISA; antibody; molecularly imprinted polymer; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Metabolism; metabolism; Biokemisk teknik; Polymer technology; Biochemical technology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents development of new analytical methods using antibodies and molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) in binding assays: 1) The high specificity of antibodies and the wide variety of efficient labels make immunoassay one of the most popular analytical techniques today. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is most widely used, since the enzyme label can be used as a catalyst to provide very high signal amplification. LÄS MER
