    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; vetenskap om hållbar utveckling; Sustainability Science;

    Sammanfattning : In response to the global fisheries crisis new governance models have been developed. In this thesis, I study one such model, Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs), that have increased in numbers and importance globally, yet received little scientific attention. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Fish for Food and Ecosystem Function : Fisheries, Trade and Key Ecosystem Processes in Coral Reefs

    Författare :Matilda Thyresson; Magnus Nyström; Edward H. Allison; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fish; food; key ecosystem processes; functional groups; coral reefs; trade; gear; small-scale fisheries; social-ecological systems; Zanzibar; Tanzania; Western Indian Ocean; naturresurshushållning; Natural Resources Management;

    Sammanfattning : Fish is a key source of food and income to millions of people living along tropical coastlines. They also play essential roles underpinning key ecosystem processes in coral reefs. For example, herbivorous fish keep algae in check that otherwise may outcompete corals, reducing the reef’s social-ecological values. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Sustainable farming of Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus)

    Författare :Hanna Carlberg; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus L.) is a salmonid that is well adapted to cold waters and is commonly farmed in open net cages. A breeding program has enabled a relatively large production in Sweden, providing a continuous supply of fresh fish to the market. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Heterobasidion root rot infections on Scots pine : A cryptic threat to sustainable forest management in Sweden

    Författare :Khaled Youssef; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Root rot caused by Heterobasidion poses a severe threat to sustainable forestry in managed Scots pine stands in Sweden. In Scots pine, the disease remains hidden in the roots, leading to tree mortality and growth losses. Its cryptic nature often results in underestimated losses and insufficient management action. Sammanfattning : World’s small-scale fisheries (SSF) face permanent and increasing external changes and shocks that challenge their viability and potential as an engine of human sustainable development. It is broadly assumed and expected that fishers and their communities have the capacity to adapt to current and future social and ecological changes. LÄS MER
