  1. 1. SOD1 misfolding and aggregation in ALS : in the light of conformation-specific antibodies

    Författare :Manuela Lehmann; Jonathan D. Gilthorpe; Stefan L. Marklund; Thomas Brännström; Ulrika Nordström; Elizabeth Fisher; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ALS; antibodies; SOD1; disordered SOD1; patient-derived models; low oxygen tension; Immunotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : Mutations in the superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) gene are linked to the progressive neurodegenerative disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). ALS-associated mutations affect the stability of the SOD1 protein and promote its unfolding. As a consequence, disordered SOD1 species can misfold and accumulate into insoluble aggregates. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Platforms and strategies harnessing signaling pathways of multifactorial diseases by multispecific antibodies

    Författare :Aman Mebrahtu; Johan Rockberg; Fredrik Y. Frejd; Janine Schuurman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antibodies; Bispecific antibodies; Multispecific affinity proteins; Protein engineering; Protein expression; Cancer; Immunotherapy; Autoimmunity; Systemic Lupus Erythematosus; Affibody molecules; AffiMab; Antikroppar; Bispecifika antikroppar; Multispecifika affinitets protein; Protein engineering; Protein uttryck; Cancer; Immunoterapai; Autoimmunitet; Systemic Lupus Erythematosus; Affibody molekyler; AffiMab; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract [ENG]Proteins govern a multitude of biological functions vital to sustain life. The ability to withstand diseases development and harboring a defense against foreign pathogens is attributed to the wonders of the immune system and the proteins and cells its comprised of. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Early Immunostimulatory Effects of IgE- and IgG Antibodies

    Författare :Fredrik Hjelm; Birgitta Heyman; Sandra Kleinau; Robert Harris; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Immunology; Antibodies; Fc receptors; Antigen presentation; B cells; T cells; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Antibodies have the ability to influence their own production in a process called antibody feedback regulation. Depending on the type of antigen and the subclass of the antibody, the outcome of feedback regulation can be complete suppression or several hundred-fold enhancement of the antibody response. 4. 4. On the Use of 76Br-labelled Monoclonal Antibodies for PET : Preclinical Evaluation of Halogenated Antibodies for Diagnosis and Treatment of Cancer

    Författare :Johanna Höglund; Katrine Riklund-Åhlström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; bromine-76; positron emission tomography; monoclonal antibodies; cancer; direct and indirect radiohalogenation; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; radiologi; Radiology;

    Sammanfattning : Radioactive substances are used in vivo to localize and characterize malignant tumours, generally by scintigraphic methods. In this context positron emission tomography (PET) in combination with radiolabelled monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) may provide a sensitive and specific method for detection of cancer. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Validation of antibodies for protein profiling : A study using immunohistochemistry on tissue microarrays

    Författare :Linda Paavilainen; Fredrik Pontén; Ola Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antibody validation; monospecific antibodies; protein profiling; immunohistochemistry; tissue microarrays; western blot; fixatives; Pathology; Patologi; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The field of proteomics has rapidly expanded due to the completion of the human genome sequence. This thesis validates affinity-purified monospecific antibodies of polyclonal origin, for protein profiling in a broad spectrum of normal tissues and cells. LÄS MER
