11. Controlling the Reactivity and Selectivity in Iridium- and Rhodium-Catalyzed Asymmetric Hydrogenation
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis is mainly focused on the development of iridium- or rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation featuring a number of practical concepts including cascade reaction, kinetic resolution, desymmetrization, and dearomatization. The protocols rely on gaining control of the reactivity among different olefins or olefin precursor as well as maintaining chemo- and stereo-selectivity in the hydrogenation. LÄS MER
12. Spectroscopic studies of kaolinite surfaces
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, specific surface reactions on kaolinite have been investigated. The methods used are diffuse reflectance Fourier transform (DRIFT), FT-Raman and micro Raman spectroscopy. The deuterium exchange of the hydroxyl protons of kaolinite has been studied. LÄS MER
13. Development of ATR-FTIR Kretschmann Spectroscopy for In situ Studies of Metal / Polymer Interfaces : and its Intergration with EIS for Exposure to Corrosive Conditions
Sammanfattning : The environmental stability of a metal / polymer interface is essential for the durability and mechanical stability of constructions in several important areas such as the automotive, offshore, building and aerospace industries. The protective capability of a polymer film is strongly connected to its barrier properties, but the transport of water and corrosive constituents through the polymer and the subsequent processes at the metal surface are complicated to analyse in detail. 14. Surface-Controlled Chemical Vapor Deposition of Silicon Carbide
Sammanfattning : Polycrystalline cubic silicon carbide, 3C-SiC, has long been investigated in the field of hard coating materials. The typical synthesis method for 3C-SiC coatings is thermal chemical vapor deposition (CVD) using either multicomponent precursors, e.g. methyltrichlorosilane, or a combination of single component precursors, e. 15. Copper and Palladium-Mediated Transformationsof Allylic and Propargylic Substrates
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on the development of new palladium and copper-mediated reactions for functionalization of alkenes and propargylic alcohol derivatives. We have developed an efficient procedure for the synthesis of allenyl and propargyl boronate from propargylic carbonates and acetates. LÄS MER
